Last two flags Geelong won they also won the Brownlow that year......

He's posted this exact same post in another thread too. I think its just an insecure Geelong supporter wanting to put a bit of doubt in our minds..

OK I'm coming in late and haven't read the whole thread so sorry if anyone has posted this. Not sure you call it an omen but it's one of those things you can look at several ways.

Collingwood have had to fight tooth and nail to get to the GF while the cats have seemed to have an easy path. You could look at it that Collingwood are therefore more battle hardened than the cats or you could suggest that the cats have been more on song. No prizes for guessing which I'm going with!

Heres one that nobody wants to hear: Bucks will be coach next year... he has a history of making his move at precisely the wrong moment!

I think it would be a typical addition to Bucks' story if we DO win this year and by the time he takes over we start to fall into a bit of a slump and dont win a premiership under him. I'm going to look at this as a good omen (for present Collingwood anyway, but perhaps not so good for future Collingwood)...

Don't know if you'd call it an omen, but anyway. Geelongs average age of the side they put out for the prelim was 27, ours was 25.5. By saying that, Geelong's list is more experienced, but our list has got younger players, meaning our recovery time will be quicker than Geelong's therefore our players will be fresher than Geelong's. Also with the extra half day rest.

My mum started making me a collingwood quilt about 2-3 years ago. She finished making it in time for the grannie last year,in the first one i didnt have it but in the replay i wrapped it around me and we won.I watched the game on friday and for 3 quarters i left the quilt on my bed,in the 4th i went and got it and wrapped it around me and we won.

Guess who's going to be wrapped up in it this saturday???me :)

Go pies!!

All omens aside though i dont know why i just feel like we're going to be ok.I am a little bit nervous but thats normal.I just can't shake this feeling that everythings going to be alright :thumbsu:

True end because we repeated the effort from 2002. Considering Swanny won this year, we are about to repeat the effort from 2010. See, nothing to worry about! :D

I saw this pic the other day and thought of Ed:

Thanks for that:D
We didn't concede a score of 65 for 17 years?
Wow.

On the last 5 occasions where our opponent has scored 65, we've gone on to win the next week.
Your work here is done.

Needless to say, I will be blaming you if we do not get the desired result come 5pm Saturday.

Here is another one...
1990 Pies
1991 Hawks
2010 Pies
2011 Hawks? or the team that beat the Hawks?

Now bare with me...
In 1991
15 teams
24 Rounds
Hawks beat West Coast;
West Coast beat Geelong to make it to the GF.
Hawthorn beat Geelong by 2 points to make it in to the granny
Round 24 Geelong beat Pies by 41 points
Gold coast team finishes last (BB played their games at Carrara and Gabba in 1991)
Hawthorn wins National Cup

In 2011
17 teams
24 Rounds
Round 24 Geelong beat Pies
Pies beat Hawks by 3 points to make it to the granny
Gold Coast team finishes last (playing home games at Gabba and Carrara)
Collingwood wins NATIONAL Australia Bank Cup!
Had the gods smiled on WC and the Hawks we would have had a replay of the 1991 GF which we know Hawthorn won.
We now have a Pies vs Geelong GF which the pies will duly win!

No team has ever one three flags in five years without going back to back.

Sorry to interrupt, but this is actually untrue. The Old Dark Navy's won in 1968, 1970, and 1972. That is three non-sequential flags won over five years (none back-to-back, in other words). In an excellent omen for us, the 3rd flag (1972) was won under a new first year coach. Just saying. :)

Swan and Pendlebury claimed 58 Brownlow votes between them, Collingwood won the premiership in 1958, Murray Weideman was captain that game and will present the cup if the side that 58 year old Mick Malthouse leads wins on Saturday afternoon.

I finished 58th in the Bay's MVP voting decided by mods :p
