Sure we lost but you couldn't say you weren't entertained a good amount by the game yesterday. It was missing a bit more of the "Magic" of a good AFL game but it was OK. At least the Freo players in general turned up to play unlike the last few weeks.

Happy to see Crichton and Crozier look lively.

Disappointed in Pavlich, Sandilands and Mundy. Mundy was poor, one of our worst on ground. Sandilands just gifted the crows so many clearances and Pavlich whilst he kicked a few goals was unsighted for most of the game. Not something you expect from your captain in a crunch game.

Seeing the crows run around THAT good though just disappoints me. These guys were up with the eagles in 05/06 dominating the competition and here we go again for them. Leaving us again languishing in no mans land, the next kick in the pants will be seeing richmond play well against us next week. Hope to see some hard cuts, Mundy needs to be dropped and I'd give Sandilands a two week vacation and play griffin.

Your spinning it saying as if our objective is to be entertaining. Our objective is to win.
Give me ugly win over gallant exciting loss in terms of the full scale picture. To win exciting is what makes great teams however (exceptions like Sydney 2005).
Irrelevant though because i think we've established that the "ugly" game also gets our pants pulled down and we score 36 points a game (players fault more than game plan though) so in the end improvement in the Crows match.

Missed the first half but saw the third, was really happy to see you guys come back but sad you didn't get over the line in the end.

I hope this isn't take wrong but I have a few questions that see me worried about your club but I'm hoping it's just because I haven't been paying attention:
1. What's the Freo game style? For example if I had to explain Richmond's I would say we push it out sideways through defence with a focus on uncontested possessions.
2. What are the goals for the club? What are they trying to achieve this year? Is there a strategy? Blooding players?

The goals are to set a new game plan into motion that may be tweeked a little as it evolves. All the players will be taught and introduced into this game plan so when they come into the team they will know exactly what is expected of them. All of the current best 22 and the 2-4 year players that Ross thinks can make it at the next level will be given an opportunity to show whether they can contribute to this game-plan whether as a first 22, a role player or as depth on the list. They will also be required to uphold certain disciplines in fitness and performance on the field. Added to this as young players begin to perform consistently in the wafl and show that they can contribute to the team at the highest level, they will be given the opportunity to replace guys who are falling below requirements in either of the above mentioned areas.
I will leave the game style explanation to someone who has seen it in live action.

What annoyed me is why Dangerfield was left to run free for much of the 2nd & 3rd Qtr ....if it was a head to head - we lost.

Think that was because Crowley was minding Thompson and Sloane for a bit in the third. Even given Lyon's defensive tendencies, he was clearly unwilling to sacrifices de Boer's good ball-winning performance to negate another opposition player.

I did think Mzungu was given the task on Dangerfield though in the second, but he wasn't having a particularly good game and lost that match up, at least in the third where Danger was one of our only mids still fighting.

Yes we don't have the depth in the midfield to match yours. With all due respect that is pretty obvious when we are playing Pearce on Sloane (what a little gun he is). Think he is our Crozier in a couple of years. Mzungu can't match it in the midfield with these guys. He was good when he played half forward but he doesn't have the skill set to match it with top class midfielders who have played in that position all of their lives. He is not accountable enough and also isn't damaging enough himself to warrent the number of damaging possessions against him. He is a great runner though may be better used as a bench player rather than as first 18.

Probably because crowley was on thompson and you can only tag so many players. Dangerfield was gone by the 4th quarter, barely gave a yelp.

Either way our midfield looked like crap against theirs and with Sandilands palming it to their mids throats time after time what else can you do?

Our typical 'we got in front so thought the job was done' mentality is what stopped us winning in my opinion. We have too many players that just want the easiest route to a win and don't kick on from the hard parts. Adelaide looked completely GONE in the 4th until we got in front and then it's like the Freo players stopped trying as hard.

I think mental resolve has a part in it. But, guys like Pearce and Gu are simply not good enough to play on players of that ilk and we have a couple of underdone players in the team who are not contributing for 4 quarters, some who never will and a forward line that is incomplete. It all adds up.

Nah, head to head it was even. Dangerfield is a poor decision maker, so it makes up for it because most of the time he just throws it on the boot and it'll turn over. He may have that bull at a gate style and ability to get the ball out of the pack, but after that he turns into a Chad Fletcher.

Another loss, another Memories dig. Watch the game you moron. ****ing sick of the fact that you can get away with this bullshit on here. When are the moderators going to wise up to your bullshit?

He was more damaging than anyone of our midfielders on Sat.

Sandi's ruckwork was subpar.

Pavlich was OK - however Mayne was the only effective forward and Mundy was at best average.

Mems may be a tad dramatic but it is far from a troll.

Mayne 2 goals 7 touches V Pavlich 3 Goals 14 touches? Thought Pavlich should be considered our most effective forward yesterday...

Mayne kicked his 2 and crashed the packs which created goals ...from memory 2 (1 of which was for Pav).

I don't recall Pav hitting too many packs - he didn't have a poor game, but Mayne put his body on the line and his pressure was excellent.
