What are the main issues facing the WB coming into finals? Didn’t see today but obviously it wasn’t the result I expected.
  • 2nd tall defender to support Keath (hopefully Gardner can find form right away)
  • Centre bounces and support for English
  • Stopping the opposition scoring through the corridor
  • 2nd tall forward to support Naughton (hopefully JUH can be serviceable in this role)
  • Underdone players (Dunkley, Treloar etc)

The last 2 weeks basically our midfield hasn't fired. It's partially a ruck issue but mainly we've been outworked through the middle.

fu** off with Bevo and his Fluke premiership has done nothing since
By fluke I take it you mean AFL induced via Andrew Newbold and the umpires. From February 2016…

“NEWLY appointed AFL commissioner Andrew Newbold has revealed his desire to see the Western Bulldogs win their second premiership as part of his equalisation vision.

Newbold, who became a director at the Hawks in 2003 and president in 2011 before resigning earlier this month, revealed he made contact with Western Bulldogs president Peter Gordon on Wednesday.

“I left a message for Peter Gordon yesterday saying I’d love to see the Bulldogs win their second flag while I’m on the commission,” Newbold told SEN.”

Absolutely damning. Given the ridiculous run of free kicks during the H&A season, the finals and then the 17-1 free kicks paid their way during the Grand Final, I honestly don’t know how anyone can argue that the 2016 Premiership wasn’t rigged.

The smoking gun!

I am not usually one to look into these things but having known Andrew pretty well for about 3-4 years whilst he was at Hawthorn, I can unequivocally tell you he was incredibly anti Geelong and Sydney. He absolutely hated the Swans due to the allowances they received via COLA and was regularly criticising Geelong over anything. Most notably the fact they played a lot of footy at Kardinia Park whilst also getting games at the G.

He is also incredibly influential and an expert negotiator.

Meh, some of our best free kick seasons we were rubbish, the impact on our overall performance is minimal

If Sydney wanted it more they would have put more effort in and won the game! And I say this as someone who DIDN'T want the Bulldogs to win on the day :P

Bevo makes baffling selection decisions week to week. This is the 3rd or 4th year in a row he has no idea what our best 22/structure looks like.
Yeah it is a strange one. Usually it's the coach who refuses to drop under performing players because your winning. Bevo seems to drop a couple of players every week. You really want to keep some consistency with your team week to week if you can control it without letting players get to comfortable with their spot in the team.

For a guy that talks about his team's ruck deficiency so often in press conferences, he sure doesn't seem interested in doing anything about it

The ruck situation just happened, no-one could do anything about it. Luke has a lot in common with Gladys & Biden.

Heck of a coach, there's probably about a dozen teams who would swap their current coach for him. And the way he trains his players in various roles and brings guys in to the side overall is a strength.

If Martin and Bruce stayed healthy they'd probably be flag favourites.

That said, do I think Jordon Sweet should be rucking until Stef is match fit, Lewis Young playing CHB and JUH in the side as a forward pocket who mixes in a fair bit of bad with a touch of the sublime - yes.

The 16 performance was astonishing. One of the best finals runs I can recall. They certainly put a line through the Hawks reign. The style of footy then was new and exciting, like whirring beehive of activity.

These days they have recaptured much of the dynamic, but they lack some harder recalcitrant individuals to bolster the softness that creeps in under fire.

Good point, Libba is at the coalface but we need some enforcers in the backs & forwards to proceed. We’ve got too many “good blokes”
