Hey guys i was just checking out this guys stats and they have him at 195cm on the collingwood website. I haven't had the opportunity to see many VFL games so i was wondering whether this guy looks at filling a future FB or CHB position? and how his progress has been this year?

I've seen him a few times, and IMO he's been underwhelming. He's a winger or flanker trapped in a KPP's body. They may retain him on the rookie list for a second year, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was cut at the end of the year.

I'm not optimistic about him.

He looks a good type physically, he's quick and moves well, but he doesn't strike me as a KP defender at all. I'll give him time because MacAffer didn't show much in his first season either.

He has shown to have a decent left boot on him, but has occassionally had Three Stooges monents that scream Epic Fail. I would have thought coordination would be a prerequisite.

To be honest, I have no idea what Hine and Judkins have seen in Casey-Leigh or Thoolen other then height and the occassional good piece of play. Talls will be raw, but they need to be medium rare, not blue!

As you say neither Casey-Leigh or Thoolen have shown much in their first year, but both are very young and have plenty of time to demonstrate their worth. Brown didn't show much in his first year but gets better with every game. Stanley and Cook are in their third year and are just starting to show improvements as players.

Casey-Leigh also has a fairly severe case of OP for about 10 weeks this year, which has greatly restricted him onfeild. He and Thoolen are project players, they each have 12 or 13 KPP talls ahead of them in the pecking order so are not likely to play much footy for the next couple of years, if they come good in that time then its a great reward for a cheap bet, if not, then they move on and we try again.

With both Thoolen and Casey-Leigh still very much boys playing against men and this year is all about hardeining up the body, getting the fitness up, getting a glimse of the pace and style of the game at this level and learning to take the hits and play against the big blokes.

We will learn a lot more about there potential next year.

Agree. Only real negative I've noticed thus far is that he appears to have hard hands. Makes good position and then mukes up the mark. Time on his side as he does appear to have reasonable skills in other areas.
