Best of luck Lynchy
I would've kept him another year, but can understand why we're moving forward with a youth policy. Wouldn't be against having him as a development coach either
Be interesting to see whether we adapt a gameplan without that role or whether we develop a player to fit the role.

**** Whateley is a moron.. swear he just makes shit up to sound like he’s clued in.

Says lynch’s best was in 18 and 19.. what a load of absolute horseshit..

Lynch’s best was 15,16 and especially 17..

18 and 19 he was injured a bit and when he played.. played one good game in every three.

Absolutely.

I'm sure you've got your little texting fingers going furiously in about 10 different threads, no need to insert yourself into every conversation you see on BigFooty! Vader ,myself and a few others were simply going over a potential compo pick for Lynch, and you feel the need to respond with, bizarrely, laughing emojis. Next time if you're not sure on a topic, maybe just sit it out on the sidelines? Or maybe engage the conversation with a bit of humility like a normal person?

Capiche?

Good call on his potential return one day. Other than the haters on BF, there's only been glowing reports about his off field presence within the group.

I've been thinking about the "connector" role and I've come to the conclusion we really need to look for more "connectors". The long kicking into the forward line has been an unmitigated failure all year. We've made Alir and his intercept marking peer group in various clubs look like superstars in many of our games. Long kicking into the forward line was a great strategy if you have Eddie and Charlie at the drop but we just don't have the cattle just now for that plan to work consistently.
I won't get too detailed but Smith and Seedsman have been the main culprits as they rarely do anything but kick it long. The defenders are well prepared once they get the ball because they know what will likely happen. We probably have other players guilty as well but these two catch my eye.
By introducing a connector through the middle or half forward and encourage one extra kick prior to entering the 50, we will have the option of hitting up a lead. We currently don't hit up many leads because the kick into the 50 is usually a long bomb. If we can work a plan to find a couple of players just forward of centre, these connectors will help overcome our greatest weakness going forward.

He probably saw Lynch have a decent game against Geelong and then just assumed that was the whole years worth of form.

DELISTED Adelaide forward Tom Lynch has confirmed he will be at North Melbourne in 2022 as a development coach – and the door hasn't been closed on him putting back on the boots.

Lynch was cut by the Crows at season's end after 164 games in 12 seasons (two of those years at St Kilda), in which he kicked 203 goals. And the news of him joining North was first revealed by AFL.com.au reporter Mitch Cleary.

Speaking on Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio on Thursday morning, the 31-year-old said he wasn't expecting his career at Adelaide to come to an end so quickly, but was passionate about moving into a new role with the Kangaroos.

He said it would primarily be a coaching position "with an aspect of playing".

"They've clearly stated to me it's around coaching and playing at that level."

Lynch said Adelaide offered him a coaching position but he thought it was time to step away from a club he was so familiar with.

Spruiks the coaching angle but onky difference is playing opportunity. Wouldn't have felt the need to step away if we'd put a contract in front of him.

Good luck Lynchy with the next phase in your career. Seems like the right type to head into coaching & may get some games off the rookie list

Lynch still has something to offer the right team... he's probably the best at his role ever. Best of luck to him

It said we offered a coaching contract, I heard we offered 3 years.
He said he was surprised we didn't offer a playing contract but he didn't get one from anyone else
Looks like he wants a fresh start and more opportunities in Melbourne to chase his coach ambitions

So nothing about him not liking the direction our club is taking… interesting.

Except for " the 31-year-old said he wasn't expecting his career at Adelaide to come to an end so quickly"
I think he was expecting another playing contract, like some people in here were expecting also. I’m happy to have moved him on from playing

Yep, I'm surprised players don't understand what happens when a club rebuilds
True - but it's not often clubs are so brutal while players are still performing as well as Lynch was (post-injury). His form, post-injury, was more than good enough for him to expect another playing contract.

I'm not criticising the club for cutting him, as they need on-field positions for our burgeoning class of youngsters. I just think that he had every reason to be surprised, and it wasn't due to a lack of self-awareness.

Smart move to get coaching experience elsewhere.

(not a dig at our coaches, but it's best that he gets to experience life in other clubs)

Seems a lot of our over 30's expect a new contract. The best thing for him to do is cut the apron strings like Rutten and Goodwin did and learn from another club.

it's the playing bit I'm referring to. He wants to keep playing, we didn't offer that, if we did, he'd have probably stayed.

Not sure Roos will much of a resume builder.
Not today but if he joins them as wooden spoon winners, any improvement they make should help his resume.
I personally see their climb back up the ladder will be similar to ours. Their rebuild looks promising. Getting in on the ground floor like Lynch is doing should be a good investment for him.

Exactly, it relies entirely on a rise up the ladder rather than be absorbing valuable IP.
