Hey guys sorry I have not attached a poll will probably do so once we get some names floating around. Most of you people should know M.Williams Hawthorns number 1 goal kicker in 2005, 2006 and averaged 4 goals in 2007 before doing his knee for the season.

He is arguably the most accurate inside 50 kick in the game. I was just who you guys believe are some of the most accurate goal kickers in the game. Please state whether you believe the goal kicker falls under the: inside 50, outside 50 or both.

Once we pop up a few names, I'll attach a poll and we can see who people think is the most accurate goal kicker in the league. I'll start the ball rolling with a not so bias opinion of Mark Williams ;)!

  • Mark Williams as the most accurate inside 50 goal kicker.

  • Scott Lucas most accurate outside 50 goal kicker.

  • Brendan Fevola most accurate combination of both, with Brown tagging along nicely.

This may be crap but I think I read in the Herald Sun at the end of the final against Adelaide last year that Buddy was the most accurate kick in the AFL outside of 50m line. If someone could back me up on that it would be great.

Fevola is the guy I'd back. Best set shot in the game.

Best set shots from inside 50 imo...

Fevola
Williams
Medhurst

Outside:

Lucas
Fevola
Lynch

Probably forgot a few..

Fevola is the guy I'd back. Best set shot in the game.

The perception is that fev is the most accurate but stats prove that he isn't.

Career stats

Lloyd

847 Goals
388 points

68.58% Accuracy

fevola

418 Goals
283 Points

59.26% Accuracy

2008 Stats

Lloyd

18 Goals
7 Points

72% Accuracy

fevola

31 Goals
14 Points

67.39% Accuracy.

Of course as he has kicked more goals but the thread isn't about who has kicked more goals but who is more accurate.

Do you have a stat on how many times Lloyd has accepted a handball over the top for a tap in from the goal square?

Lloyd today is half the player he was 5 years ago.

If I wanted someone kicking a goal to save my life, Fev, Nathan Brown, Bradshaw, Lucas and Williams would be the best 5 in my opinion..

No i don't have that stat just like i don't have the stat on how carlton nearly always go to fev whereas Lloyd has to share his opportunities between himself and Lucas.
Nor do i have the stat that shows no one on the Essendon list has the sort of delivery that Stevens or Judd have to fev.

He might be half the player he was but again this poll is about accuracy and Lloyd is superior than fev and probably every other FF in the league.

N.Brown
Career = 57.74%
2008 = 78.94%

Bradshaw
Career = 66.0%
2008 = 68%

Lucas
Career = 60.16%
2008 = injured first round

Williams
Career = 66.89%
2008 = 63.15%

So of those that you wanted kicking to save your life the only 1 that has a better accuracy than Lloyd is Browne and that's only on 2008 stats.

Leon Davis is more accurate than Mark Williams....

L.Davis - 13 goals 5 behinds

M.Williams - 12 goals 7 behinds..

as is Ben McKinley - 14 goals 3 behinds

Compare their careers, taking into the consideration that Willo has returned from a season ending knee injury, its Ben McKinley's first year, so how can you determine whether or not he's an accurate kick.
PS- Look one post above!

im just saying that those particular two (davis,McKinley) are a more accurate shot at goal at this point in time.....doesnt matter about previous injurys and what not, im just saying at this point in time Davis and McKinley are just two off the top of my head that are more accurate than Williams, not saying he isnt good or isnt an accurate kick because i like him. Even if he does mimic the opposition coach.:D

Yeah as much as I like the bloke, I would've preferred he didn't mimic the coach for obvious reasons, still meh I thought it was flamboyant and comical.

Yup, Cameron Ling wins hands down inside 50. Absolutely incredible record.

Williams hasn't been as accurate i don't think this season as he was when he was our sole goal kicker... not sure if this is maybe a confidence thing getting back into the swing of things or i'm just reading into something that's not there.

Outside 50, i'd say either Fev or Buddy... not sure who to choose... would choose Franklin but that may be bias. So much more confident in him lining up from 55 than 35!

Fev has less than 50% accuracy outside 50 (since 2005 which is the only stat I could)
Lucas outside 50 for me. The only reason Lloyd is ahead of Lucas for accuracy is because Lucas will have a shot whenver he is inside about 70.
