There is contact in soccer sure you don't get slung to ground (although that's now outlawed in the afl) there is certainly contact in soccer

How many km does the average soccer midfield player cover in a match compared to AFL midfielder?
Obviously more contact in AFL compared to soccer & a much more physical type of contact.
Injuries? Not sure how they compare - knee, calf, groin, hammy. Would have thought more contact injuries in AFL (broken bones, concussion, severe bruising). Probably more shin/foot injuries in soccer.
Soccer is not soft - but AFL is harder.

Any leg injury you can do in afl you can do in soccer

Compound leg breaks are actually far more common in soccer then afl. Knee ligament and twisting injuries as well

Soccer is hardly a soft sport. It's a misconception pushed by people who can't enjoy more then one sport

Some of the worst ideas the human race has produced have been with the best intentions and this would no doubt be another. Did you know that to extend the season to 34 rounds there would need to be an extra 119 games league wide compared to 2011?

Obviously we'd have to play mid-week matches to get the total up that high considering a complete season spread across 38 weeks of the year isn't feasible. So to break it down and make the season a similar length to 2011 we'd have to play an extra 5 matches mid-week every week of the year. Boggles the mind doesn't it.

To sum up, if I had to put a number figure on the likelihood of this happening with 10 being a possibility and 0 being a snowflakes chance in hell, I would probably give it -10. It just won't happen.

To make everything fair we should like the old days play everyone 2 times . At the start of each season the complaints of hard and soft draws come up .

We should increase the list size and the salary cap accordingly .

Nobody complained back in the sixties about Collingwood getting a soft draw .

The only way you can have everyone playing everyone twice is if you then turn our league into an EPL type league where the top team after 34 rounds is the champion and have no finals series, but again that wouldnt be in the best interest of the AFL.

Id say a central midfielder in a 90 min soccer match actually would cover more Kms than an AFL midfielder.
