But those kids have to get games and in a team with the list we've got I can't see that happening unless we get a severe list of injuries

We should rotate more our line-up, especially against the weakest sides. It has risks, but the benefits are greater, imho. Rotation gives experience to our reserves, while help resting our main players. One extra bye does not hurt anyone's pride.

We have to win it in the next three years before I can see us sliding down back down the ladder due to trading in so many older players

Worth a listen re our profiles- don't necessarily agree totally with Craig Coombe's, but an interesting take on the AFLs lists...

I think our list is ok- but yeah will be a bit thin, need players like atley, drew, and some of these new recruits to force in and stay in

Agree.

We should aim to get games into Marshall, Frampton, Lienert, Atley, Drew, Johnson at least. Have to see what we have in case injuries strike in finals.

Yes as much as I hate to say it we are flat track bullies and we need to snap that mentality if we are to win a premiership

Flat track bullies is OK. It was games like Essendon, Melbourne, WC, Adelaide, etc. the problem.

Second most experienced team behind Hawks and 6th oldest. :)

Certainly it was mental spiritual but the f50 entriy tactics weren't great

We were able to exploit holes against bad defenses; against good ones, not so much. Still, our greatest issue was getting into "stand-by" mode often during games. For instance, it has cost us two wins against WC, plus victories against Richmond and GWS (the latter, if I am not mistaken).

We also couldn't answer when the Crows and Essendon merely dropped an extra man back and next minute we couldn't win a clearance
Meanwhile I am thinking....
C'mon Kenny do something..... react... play a counter measure.... anything

These tactical deficiencies I have highlighted aren't to take away from the fact the game is 'played above the shoulders'

It also keeps more players hungry and if done the right way can lift morale

We are so far off being an deserved top 4 team and we still need to build.

We are a long way from that premiership after watching some of the shite our players are offering up today. We obviously lack an actual winning culture at this club, if we had it we would not get easily beaten every 3rd-4th game for the last God knows how long.

I'll check back on this building for a premiership when we have players that rock up each week. We don't need to win, not being pathetic would be good.

Same frustrating shite every year.

Maybe janus can shed some light on this building for a premiership for me

It's the coaches, w have the cattle. Why we didn't throw an Impotent Dixon into the ruck who has been average up forward is beyond me. Coupled with our insistence on being one short at the midfield stoppages, I just don't know what they are thinking. Our midfield was average and Rockliff is injured

There are no short cuts in this comp. Trying to trade in other clubs 26/27/28 year old players is a proven disaster, shows a lack of growth mindset and vision. Do you think other clubs let go there treasure? I exclude Dixon who I think was a great pick up, a 6-6 monster is always welcome.

If we don’t win in next 2 years (after our trade versus draft summer) we have another 5-7 years of pain

We have traded in ONE player (Watts, for pick #31). We brought in four FA, and drafted Barry (#61) and Thomas (Rookie).

We have traded OUT some players, who weren't exactly our treasures.

I don't get your point.

PAFC... The club that giveth..then taketh away.
Even getting hard for me to remain positive after the same old same old, can't seem to trust the team type stuff.
They just tease us.

Sydney won a flag in 12 and Hawthorn created a dynasty using that very strategy. Doesnt mean we will win it, but to say its a proven disaster is wrong.

So true. Hawthorn have structure and a solid game plan. We have the players and ....

Nobody is champion in April. This is the first third of the season. It was a disappointing game and a painful loss, but it is part of the process. We have both structure and a solid game plan, but we are not a team yet. We will become a team playing games, getting used to each other, making mistakes, talking to each other, reviewing what went wrong and right, practcing, adjusting, etc.

The funny thing is, being beaten every 4th game which you are lamenting as such a horrible situation equates to about a 17-5 season, which should be good enough for top 2, let alone top 4. At this stage we have dropped 1 game and are sitting comfortably in the top 8. We aren’t a perfect team and can’t win every week in a close competition. Essendon are a 5 goal better team at Etihad than anywhere else.
