I just want to ask 1 thing. Who put together this "mediocre" list?

That's the biggest cop out ever. His list, his team. No excuses for how bad it is.

judging by the amount of premierships your team has won the since the grant thomas/lyon years, your list should be considered much better? you guys have had one good season.. dont forget that.. still 19 games to go this year (haha dick crywoldt will be missing for a min. of 14 weeks..) so dont get too ahead of yourself knob...

This isn't going anywhere.

We're being absolutely savaged in all the papers. The Age, HS, Australian, Caro, Sheahan and Patrick Smith all have their guns blazing at us.

I can't believe how the media has blown this up. I also can't believe that everyone is leaping to the defence of "poor" Milne, the same guy that launched a homophobic tirade against Licuria and allegedly r*ped a woman. WTF is the world coming to?

MM is the evil villain for standing up for his players and staff (Milne attacked Lica first), and this little homophobic, alleged rapist is the pet angel of our game? Give me a break!

Side-by-side.

Agree the Media loved getting Stuck into us but Nothing has said about "That Poor Excuse of a Human Being" getting stuck into MM and Calling Licca a F**got. Actually wished Licca went over there and Decked Him:thumbsu:

I think what Mike Sheahen, Caro "Horsface" Wilson and Patrick Smith have forgot is they actually HAVE NO ****ING POWER.

This whole case is now solely in the hands of the AFL, both clubs have basically "settled up" and by doing so have publicly stated to the AFL that what happened on the field has been resolved and we should simply move on.

Any StKilda supporter who says this investigation is asking for a "can of worms" to be opened up and for everything that Milne has said and done over a long period of time to be bought up once again and basically StKilda will end up being the "losers" in this.

Both clubs officials and players made mistakes both on Friday night and in subsequent media comments (Yes, I mean you too Montagna) and both clubs now want to move on quickly.

Sheahen, Horseface and fatboy Patty want this to become a full blown AFL investigation, simply so they can hang more shit on Malthouse and Collingwood, 2 outlets that have treated the media with the contempt they deserve for years now.

I hope the AFL comes to its senses and makes up its mind quickly either way, because quite simply this is no longer a big issue, in fact the biggest issue on the weekend wasn't a coach having a go at a player, it was the Ashley McGrath racist slur incident that should have been front page news.

But, oh, I forgot, news about some interstate player getting racially slurred isnt as "juicy" as a resolution of hostilities between Collingwood and anyone else.

Shame HS, Shame Age, Shame Australian, racism is always more important then any homophobic or criminal slur that is given out on the field.

The AFL should be more concerned with the McGrath situation then this, and so should the media.

As an unbiased observer to this whole thing I think Collingwood has got the rough end of the stick here. Firstly, Milne and the rest of St Kilda players were in Collingwood's space mouthing off and inciting the whole event. They shouldnt have been there and Collingwood have every right to tell them to f*ck off. A bit of argey bargey follows, a few insults are traded, no big deal. And for Milne to be complaining about people sledging him is just about the richest thing i've ever heard. The only area I can see where Collingwood and MM are in the wrong was his original denial about having said it. That was a mistake and not a good look for Mick or the club.

Yes the only mistake was Mick should have said "Look he ran from the Locket 50m arc past the Stkilda huddle to the Coventry 50 metre arc to talk to us in our group it would have been rude to ignore him totally"

How bad it is?? Jeez you'd think that the Pies were winning wooden spoons rather than playing in Prelim finals the was some opposition morons carry on

Spot on, rhysman; I am outraged that Collingwood is being pilloried because of an incident incited by that piece of ordure.:thumbsd::mad::thumbsd:

didnt Reiwoldt sledge a player who 'allegedly bashed his wife'
and didnt Harvey sledge someone that made the news.
and doesnt that germ Milne sledge each week.

Sledge on, boys: Harvey
By Robert Harvey
October 10, 2008
ST KILDA legend Robert Harvey talks about sledging and the party boy culture in an exclusive extract from his book Harves - Strength Through Loyalty.

I'VE met plenty of blokes along the way who try to verbally get to you.

But the game these days is quieter on the field than it has ever been in the two decades I've played.

When I started, the sledging was out of control. In our side, probably Danny "Spud" Frawley was the best at it. Of the opposition, Tony Shaw was unbelievable - the best of them all.

When the teams were strong at a certain time, they seemed to have the most sledgers, and sledging seemed to go hand in hand with the confidence of being successful. When they won their flags, the Brisbane Lions dealt it out and so did North Melbourne at their peak.

Wayne Carey was one of the competition's better sledgers.

It amuses me now to see such a strong reaction when the subject bobs up in today's football.

Early in 2008 there was an incident between Nick Riewoldt and Andrew Lovett which generated plenty of heat in the media. That became public because it was picked up by the umpires' microphones in the St Kilda-Essendon game. The miking up of umpires is a shocking idea.

Sledging is going to happen. It's a contest out there and it's always going to happen. Blokes are going to be angry, blokes are going to say things they don't mean - whether it's about their missus or their mum or whatever. It has been going on forever and a day.

It's ridiculous to have microphones there. People get up in arms and say, "How could Nick Riewoldt say that?" But he doesn't mean it, it was said in the heat of the moment.

Then we have all these do-gooder groups who know nothing about the situation, jumping on board trying to dictate what we can or can't say on the footy field.

It's too intrusive to have microphones out there, and people don't need to hear every word said by the umpire or players in his vicinity.

You hear swearing through the effects mikes, which is only the tip of the iceberg. Nobody needs to hear that, especially with kids watching the game on TV.

If the AFL is genuinely concerned about the game's image, it would dump the idea of microphones on umpires straight away.

Lyon defends Riewoldt's Lovett-slur

April 22, 2008

HIS captain was caught sledging an AFL opponent about domestic violence, but St Kilda coach Ross Lyon insists his players treat their rivals respectfully.

Lyon declared sledging a non-issue and said he had no plans to discuss the issue with Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt, who last Friday night told Essendon's Andrew Lovett "You bash your f...... missus" during the game at Telstra Dome.

The jibe was picked up by a microphone worn by one of the umpires and broadcast by the Seven Network.

Lovett was last year fined $500 in the Melbourne Magistrates Court after he was found guilty of breaking an intervention order taken out by his ex-girlfriend.

Richmond coach Terry Wallace said it was unacceptable for players to make personal insults about opponents.

But Lyon was not prepared to judge on morals, although he believed the Saints did not overstep the line.

"As a team we have a philosophy that we treat our opponents with respect regardless of the scoreboard," he said.

"But in the heat of the moment, unless you know what's been said and what's been given, both physically and verbally, it's hard to make moral judgements until you've walked in that person's shoes."

Officials from Essendon and St Kilda discussed the sledge after the game, and Lovett has decided not to take any action.

That meant Lyon wanted to move on.

"Both clubs have spoken and the player, Andrew Lovett, isn't concerned and has moved on, so I have no need to speak to anyone," he said.

"I think our group conducts itself incredibly well and I haven't seen too much evidence to the contrary."

Wallace said sledging had been "part and parcel" of the game when he was playing, from 1978-91, but said remarks of a personal nature were now unacceptable.

"Everyone knows that umpires are miked - that's a fact - do you get away with it on the tennis court? Why should you get away with it on the footy field?" he said.

Poor little Milne. He must feel so.......violated - just like a woman.

Malthouse did the right thing. Milne is a neanderthal, doing exactly what the AFL aims to eradicate with this campaign reported in yesterday's Age:

Top footballers are to front a campaign against homophobia.

AFL football may have a reputation for blokiness, but dozens of top players and coaches have launched a campaign to promote tolerance of homosexuality.
The ''inclusion and diversity'' campaign boasts some of the biggest names in football, including Neil Balme, Joel Selwood and Brownlow medallists Jimmy Bartel and Adam Goodes.
Almost 30 players and coaches have signed up to the Players' Association project, to be launched officially next month.

Milne shouldn't have used the homo slur, if in fact he did, and he should be sanctioned for it. The point I was making is that it's ridiculous to say he "can't take it". He has quite possibly copped more sledging than any player in the history of the game, and never made a big deal about it. He clearly can - and does - take mountains of shit from opposition supporters and players.

This is such a non event!

Because it has come out publicly, the AFL will have to slap Malthouse with a fine (and possibly Milne and Licuria), and that's about where it ends.

Some big boys called each other names, one of them lied about it later, the end.

Carro and co will take it to the ends of the earth no doubt. It makes me sick that after a great round of amazing football, the biggest talking point is some name calling on the football field!

When on a head hunt like this, the media remind me of the fat chick that never has anything nice to say about a pretty girl.

That fat no name from the Herald Sun (seriously forgot his name and he doesn't warrant googling) even managed to relate the name calling on Friday night to the Malthouse/Buckley coaching arrangement! FFS... so it begins... imagine what it will be like in 2011.

Agreed. He wasn't the only St Kilda player in the vicinity so it may not even be Milne making the complaint about being sledged. Surely he is thick skinned enough to not care what MM said to him.

That being said, he is a tip rat.

With Tony Shaw also bleating in the media this morning that it's outrageous behaviour from MM. What a hypocritical ballbag.
It would be fantastic if the bloke just shut up, just for once say nah ive got no comment

Im disappointed Mick sledged, he started the confrontation mick just hit back harder.

If milne was a suburban footballer and he called me a ****** wog like he allegedly called Licuria, he would have had his ass handed too him and he is upset he got called a rapist in the heat of battle.

I cant wait until we play this mob again, i want milne flattened every single time he even considers touching the ball

Can you get the **** off our board please? I've read about 50 posts from you, all on our board, and they are all absolute crap that add nothing to the thread, except start arguments.

Say something constructive or piss off!

He played like his life depended on it and never took a backward step. That made him a premiership captain and a player no less than Leigh Mathews said was indispensible. So now he takes the same persona into his post playing career. For all the things he is supposed to have said against his old club how often do you think he has been wrong? We have no shortage of cheerleaders and that sure as hell hasn’t got us many premierships in recent decades. If people actually listened to criticism at Collingwood things might be a bit different.

I'm not questioning his playing career or what he achieved.

What I do dislike is he is the first to lay into us about everything. He is also more wring then right on everything he talks about
