I know Dimma is a nice guy and all that, but with the recent media reports about Malthouse's future and its probaly just his managers letting the cat out of the bag to ensure Eddie comes to the party $$$$ wise to keep him at the Pies..

But if he realistically wanted to coach next year, i think it would be a wise move to make a big play for him , I know ill get shot down about its not the coach... etc etc, but i think someone of his calibre and respect around the club may be exactly what Richmond need to get their act together..

Keep Hardwick on as assistant, bring in Malthouse and he can prove just how much of a great coach he apparently is by taking on the hardest job in football..

it could either send him off into retirement Wayne Carey style or as a messiah who brang the sleeping giant back to the top of the tables..

What an absolute slap in the face that would be to Hardwick, and if that ever happened at the club I would no longer support the club and would throw away watching footy altogether and go back to watching my local side. :thumbsd:

Absolutely agree. I really couldn't give two shits about Malthouses ties to the club or credentials. We chose Hardwick, We made our bed, we MUST lay in it.

I am 100% sure Hardwick is the right man for the job, not Malthouse. Hardwick, like our players is learning it the hard way, which will eventually pay off.

LOYALTY is what this club needs right now, not eating yet another coach. This one actually has an idea unlike our previous few.

Agreed.

I guess some people don't learn, and knifing coaches in the past has worked out so well for us. :thumbsd:

Absolutely. And how fast people forget how much they loved this man a month ago when we were close to finals. He is learning, very much like the cubs that love him and in the end that is going to win us a premiership, Not another coach

To true although I would suggest you go to support your local Footy side anyway.:D

My question is this : why would Malthouse even contemplate going to Richmond?

He works for the equivalent of Mercedes in a top job gets paid a load on money and is revered.

He is then asked by "shit box" dodge to head up their "turn around" business in a **** polishing exercise.

Why?

Malthouse IMO won't coach next year , he will either be waiting in the wings, whilst being paid a shitload at Collingwood with a contract that allows him out at any given time , or will be in the media . Either way he will be only waiting for the right time to re-enter the coaching ranks !

Pops will not be coming to Tigerland.
Players will still play like poo and Malthouse rep will be ruined.

Hair will go white too or fall out.

Culture problem at Punt Road.

Been there for too long.

Have they got rid of that bloody Tigerskin?

CNB was right.

Put the FTF money towrds saving real Tigers instead of feeding Harvey Norman eFffedC.

100% No to next year.

We must let Hardwick’s contract run and without the pressure of a Malthouse coming into the club as it would only destabilise Hardwick.

Ideal scenario for mine would be for Malthouse to take a year away from footy and freshen up, do a bit of traveling, and stay in touch with footy via media work, and at the same time see how Dimmas third year pans out.

As Dimma promised, year one transition, year two development and year three and beyond finals. If by this time next year we are still at this frustrating level of inconsistency and mediocrity then make the biggest play for Malthouse imaginable, otherwise re-sign Dimma.

On Malthouse think about it, article in the West, even though it was probably aimed and Collingwood negotiations, he categorically stated he is at heart more of a Tiger than Eagle or Pie. What better way to finish of a illustrious professional coaching career than to bring your favorite club out of three decades of the doldrums back to its former crowning glory. That would be more tempting than anything Melbourne or Carltank could possibly offer.

The problem i think is.. We need someone with success around us, Someone who knows the right formula, who comes from a club that knows the right way to do things..

This is how i see Richmond, its like the way they used to build 20 story buildings and made them all government housing.. So the whole block was filled with people who have not expereinced success, etc

they eventually realised this is not the right way to do things as putting them all in the same place simply made the situation worse...

thats how i see Richmond, a club that is currently ran and built around people who have not expereinced the good times , Premierships etc...So its just one big pile of misery... Im aware Hardwick comes from a different background, but he is young coach and what we need is a hardman with expereince in what it takes..

im not saying to sack Hardwick, I just know if i had the preference i would choose Malthouse anyday of the week... Sheedy was past it, Malthouse is not.

I dont care if it makes us look bad if we dump Hardwick, We are about winning football games and also making a profit ... that doesnt happen when you lose games to the team that was apparently not even good enough to win a game all season..

at some point , you have to start asking yourself... why are other teams able to turn over their lists and go back up to the top, while we are never able to do it?? We are not going to benefit from the draft as this year its all about GWS

Im sorry, pay Malthouse what he wants... if it fails, well atleast we know we have tried a winning coach and it still didnt work..

and why does he stand on the boundary line for? ive watched footy from ground level and i think its the worst spot as you cant see the overall picture as to whats happening, sit back in the box and call the shots from up there rather than trying to be one of the boys on the bench!

You have all lost the plot
Why the hell would Malthouse want to come and coach us and destroy the great reputation he has been building over the last 25 years of being a top line coach.
If malthouse took the RFC coaching job here is a look into the future
New Bigfooty thread .....mid season 2014
Probably started by Wally
Dump Malthouse he is past it.
We need a new coach as Malthouse is past his use by date.
We should never have given the job to the geriatric old fart......
Blah Blah Blah Blah

Some things never change!!!

Malthouse? In one word, NO.

I'm happy to stick with Dimma and reassess towards the end of his contract.

Jack playing injured and lack of ruck stocks hasnt helped, but I do think Dimma should stop being what I perceive as Mr Niceguy next season.

And it probably wouldnt hurt the RFC to do another review of every department at the club, including - recruiting.

Stuff Malthouse.
If Hardwick coached Collingwood they would still be on top.
If Malthouse coached Ruchmond we would still be where we are now.

We dont need to be extending dimma contract this year as has been previoulsy discussed
We must let his contract run to next year. If we struggle and there is no improvement and Mick is available which he will = well then we would be mad not to chase the best coach in the league, Benny Gale would not be doing the right thing by its members!

....

Say we do this and actually get Malthouse. Fast forward 1 half years, we clean out another 20 players. If we're not in finals contention do we sack him as well? Who do we chase next?

Seriously this is stupid.

I agree. No to Malthouse. Plus it did take Malthouse a few years to build a top team, and it doesnt mean he'll fix RFC within a year or two. For now let Hardwick do his job.

No to Mick, maybe ask and pay a person like Paul Roos to give his advice and his frank assessment, someone hardwick can bounce ideas off.(doesn't have to be full time)
Also bring in some ex-players at times like a carey etc etc... just to give a different perspective on player roles.

Its nothing against the present coaches but at times a different tack and opinion maybe needed , just like it does in the business world.

We would be.....

the Carlton to Dennis Pagans reputation.
The eighties Melbourne to Ron Barassis' reputation.
The Fremantle to Damien Drums (best coach available) reputation.
The West Coast to Ken Judges reputation.
The Bulldogs to Alan Joyces reputation.

The Sheedy to Sheedys reputation.

Bring your reputation to us Mick. It would be good to see you knocked down a few pegs.
