The greatest manager ever. Going out on top. Thank you for everything Sir Alex. As MUFC supporters we are forever in your debt.

Second that

:( :( :(

What will this do to the potential Ronaldo return? Can't see him wanting to come back with no fergie.

going to be weird not seeing him on the touchline... absolute idol of mine tears of joy tonight whilst cracking open a beer to salute him.

Going to be a VERY big summer, searching for a new manager and also new players.

Forever indebted. Could not agree more.

This day was coming but I still can't believe it's happened. I'm 22 and been watching United since I was 8 and SAF has been there all along. It's going to be strange seeing someone else on the bench at OT.

I reckon we might already have a new gaffer signed up, but it won't be announced until after the season is finished - this is still Sir Alex's team until Sunday week.

I've read that our new manager could be revealed within days, but he will have to resign at his current club first.

Wouldn't that rule out Mourinho because he won't resign, he will get sacked.

Probably doesn't narrow it down a great deal in the end
There wouldn't be many top candidates who aren't currently managing

saying the new man believes in youth. Moyes seems the likely one from names being mentioned

SkySports understands that we could announce SAF successor within the next 48 hours.

Brace yourselfs lads, it's going to be David Moyes.

Moyes? Not sure how I'd feel about that.

Would he and Rooney be able to work in the same team again, considering Moyes sued Rooney for libel?

Don't feel he has enough Champions League experience either.

I was thinking about this.

I don't believe they like each other.

Unbeilevable. Really didnt expect to see that when I got home from work.

David Moyes? Is this actually going to happen? How on earth would he be the front runner?

I don't believe they like each other.

It was nearly 10 years ago that Rooney left Everton, so our best hope is that it is now water under the bridge and they could work together.
