Buttner looks like he will start as he didn't play for the reserves. Neither did Powell. I doubt RVP will play even if he is fit. We should rest a couple but I still want to be confident of getting a result against Norwich

On to Madrid now. I think we will go

DDG
Rafael---Wio---Evans---Evra
----Carrick-------Clev--------
Nani-------Roo----------Giggs
------------RVP----------------

Subs: Anders, Kagawa, Anderson, Vidic, Smalling, Welbeck, Hernandez

Not sure where Young fits in to be honest. Was he being rested or has Fergie just made up his mind that he is behind Nani and Kagawa and maybe even Welbeck. Valencia hasn't shown enough to earn a start against Madrid but Fergie will have to ensure Nani and Kagawa track back to defend. You never know what you are going to get against Madrid but we have to hope they have an off day and we come to play. GGMU

A few changes to the original team i initially had. I think we'll lineup as a 4-2-3-1 on the team sheets but revert to more of a 4-3-3 like in the last leg:
DDG
Rafa, Rio, Evans, Evra
Cleverley, Carrick, Rooney
Welbeck, RVP, Nani

Rio in for Vidic which will mean we will have the same defence from the first leg which did so well. Cleverley, looks like he'll definitely play since he was rested until the 78th minute and meaning Jones probably won't make it. And Nani in for Kagawa because he played a full game last night. I think Giggs, Anderson and Valencia will come on at some point too.

Loved our composure in front of goal this morning, some classy cool finishes. Dont think we got out of 2nd gear and all players came through the game without injury.

Pretty happy how we are travelling, looking solid down back now, creative in the mids (gee Carrick is having some season) and clinical in the final 3rd.

Bring on CR7!

orite fellas this is what I would like to see tonight assuming Jones is out

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Cleverley Carrick
Nani Rooney Kagawa
RVP

Bench: Lindgaard Vidic Valencia Welbeck Hernandez Anderson Giggs

With Jones presumably out, not sure who will stick to Ronaldo. Maybe no-one? Maybe Cleverley. I have heard suggestions of Carrick doing the job but that would ruin our attack imo as he's clearly our best CM

Rumours in England saying Rooney will be on the bench but can't see it myself.

Let's do this fellas. GGMU

Anderson or Giggs in for Rooney in a 3 man midfield? Wazza has to play right? Will be weird seeing him on the bench. But whatever the lineup, the gaffer will know what is best and we should trust him fully.

Reading the Caf and the pre-match activities with the surfer banners and shit, feels like a final! Hope they do something similar to the 'Believe' mosaic for Barca in the 08 semi. Should be a great ****ing match, probly won't be able to sleep tonight. Alarm will be set to numerous times.

Well it was a joke. The ref clearly wanted to leave his mark on the game. I just hope that he ends up at Centrelink by the time Fergie is done with him. But enough on the card

Really proud to be a red tonight. Even when down to 10 we pressed and pressed and really could have had a couple of goals (headers from Carrick and Vidic and Rooney shot). Lopez played well for them. Good to hear that Mourinho admitted the best team lost. What the **** has happened to Van Persie. As bad as Torres for the last month or so. De Gea was a beast and looked pretty comforable all night (didn't see the Modric goal however). Really like Welbeck in these big games. His speed combined with this strength is invalueable. Really worried this could derail our season and we end up with nothing but I hope not.

The Modric goal was a cracker. 20-25 yards out, started outside the right post, curled in, struck the inside of the post and went in. Nothing DDG could do.

Well the less spoken about the straight red the better.

Welbeck put in a great performance again. Vidic was commanding in the air. Rafael was good against Ronaldo and Nani had a good influence on the game. We need to move on asap, and I'm confident we will. The game on Sunday is even bigger for us now. Can't afford to be eliminated from two competitions in a week.

Yeah agreed. As bad as the result and red card is, really proud of the boys, the supporters and the fight right to the end. We know we can match it with the best teams and today was proof we have really adapted well now after the post-Ronaldo era in Europe. Welbeck was amazing.

As good as Welbeck was, he is at his best against good teams because they play a high line and he can use his strength and speed. I wouldn't start him against weak team where they defend deep unless it is as a winger

I agree completely about the high line.

Gutted but being a glass half full kind of guy it now provides less fixture congestion to concentrate on the trophy that always matters most.

Thought the OT crowd was great this morning, pity it takes a big game to get them going.

Want to see a reaction this weekend.
