March Election

Ive seen it and I get furious over it but since water is so presious that putting all your eggs in one basket is fraught with danger

You do understand that we'd still be collecting water from resevoirs, the Murray, the new desalinisation plant etc. right?

All this does is add an extra egg in the basket.

Kirky if your still looking for examples of spin check this out:

http://www.thepunch.com.au/articles/SA-election-Why-Mike-Ranns-time-is-up/

Really shows that whilst Rann rarely lies, he is often intentionally misleading for his own political purposes.

That my friend is spin.

jo172,

I am fully aware that Rann is full of spin, in fact one would say he has taken it to another level.

I have no idea what I am going to do Saturday, I can't vote for Rann because of all the bullshit over the past 4 years but then again I'm not convinced Redmond will be there for too long or the media has really analysed what she has proposed and I disagree with her on the redevelopment of the RAH. I'm not comfortable with the loonies that are the Greenies, I'm not a communist and don't like independents who basically promote themselves on one issue.

So what does one do?

If you find out please let me know - I have NFI

To the two above what I would do:

Preference Minor parties/independents and put the majors last then:

If you live in a safe seat: Protest vote against the expected winner. Basically the more marginal your seat the better for you. A politician on tenterhooks is a lot more responsible and attentive that one whose convinced all the have to do is get their name on the ballot to win.

If you live in a marginal seat: If you truly feel that abhorred by the leadership of the two major parties it might be worth considering the past effectiveness of your local member in both local and state issues and whether you'd prefer the devil you don't know.

As for the Upper House I'd fully commit to the independents/minors who may have a chance and are not too reprehensible (i'm looking at you Brokenshire/Grace) such as Winderlich, G4C etc.

Vote Libs; they wont win, but they might get in a position where they can keep Rann honest (minority Govt) and challenge properly next time.

With respect to whether Redmond will be there, Chapman would have to be absolutely deluded to think she could overthrow a person whose just won an Election.

If you want a good laugh, listen to the 'we single handedly disproved global warming, wait, why is noone listening to me?' ads on radio.

Elections really do manage to bring out all the crackpots dont they. *waits for Jos next post so i can claim it as evidence for this theory* :p

I'd go as far as saying win or lose Redmond has the leadership until at least the next election

barring some sordid affair.

The guys name escapes me now but i head an advert on the radio promoting an independent and his radio advertisement ends with a 15 second jingle. Forget telling us what your policies are or what you actually stand for but chuck in a 15 second jingle – yeah, good work mate.

I resemble that remark!

But thank god for the electronic blackout, I for one wish it was weeks earlier.

Tell me that doesn't have some Republican Senator trying to pick up Male prostitutes vibes!

What a complete and utter ****wit; how the hell can Family First put him on their ticket with a straight face?

Mr Bais said he had "12 children under my belt".

He has three children to his first wife, Tammy - including the two he now seeks paternity tests for. He also "took under his wing" another daughter of Tammy's who he later found out was not his child.

He has four children to his wife, Carol, and he adopted her three children. He also believes he may have a son from a relationship before he met his present wife.

Somebody sterilise him, please.

Was that David Winderlich?

On King William Street this morning I saw a poster that said "Chapman will Challenge" underneath one of those "Redmond is Ready" signs, in the exact same font and background and all

If anybody isn't sure about who they're voting for, have a look at this (I checked it out after seeing that full page ad in the paper this morning);

Dear Enquirer
The Rann/Foley government has planned for a private consortium to finance, design, construct and own the new RAH. The consortium will then maintain and supply support services to it for 35 years. From 2016 we will be paying rent and a service fee for 35 years! (http://www.newrah.sa.gov.au/project/procurement.htm).
Cost to completion is estimated at $1,700million.
What will be the annual rent and fee? Perhaps starting at $200million?
We will be renting something for 35 years after demolishing $1billion worth of perfectly functioning RAH - that we own.
Sounds crazy!
Yours faithfully,
Bob Bauze
Past Director of Orthopaedics and Trauma
Royal Adelaide, The Queen Elizabeth and Lyell McEwin Hospital

I knew it was a public/private partnership, but I wasn't aware of that. I was planning to vote Liberal, but wasn't that enthused - I am now.

The ALP is getting desparate as those poster's are in for a big slap on the wrists from the Electoral Commission.

That's pretty pathetic really, as are the vandalised Rann signs.
