Rose, like Diggins, has come out and said the truths about our club and where it is heading. Smorgan doesn't like fans knowing the truth, so what does he do - alienate both people.

Good god, if even AWG (possibly our most positive supporter) can see this then it must be pretty serious.

Directors, who are generally business-savvy people, do not make statements one day and then wholeheartedly retract them the next. What Rose said holds considerable merit and HAS to be taken seriously. If anything, it was a warning shot to the club and its supporters.

Smorgan has attempted to silence him, and more importantly, has given the impression that Rose retracts those statements. That just isn't the truth. What is this - a George Orwell novel or a football club?

What Smorgan fails to note is that his 3-year business plan intially budgeted to break even in 2007. Now, he's trumpeting plans to run a profit in 2008 - and thats putting a positive spin on things?

You seem to be upset that Smorgon doesn't want directors to run to the media and bag the club. Would you rather have Directors press # 1 on their speed dial and provide a back page article like we saw today? What is the advantage of this article?

I'm sure everyone who is vaguely interested in football knows the position we are in. We all know our revenues our down, our memberships and sponsorships are down..... In the absence of wins from our team the only way to increase the abovementioned revenue sources is to sell hope. Today's article does nothing of the sort.

How do we attract sponsors with articles like this in the papers?

As someone previously said (may have been on TC) this was reminiscent of Smorgons Footy Show debacle.

I'm glad he resigned (or pushed to resign) but even more than that I'm glad I voted for change in these board elections.....too many idiots on our board running to the media and stuffing up.

we're not going to have a club to sponsor if we continue this way.

We are 8 million in debt. Not a few hundred thousand, not one or two million, 8 MILLION.

I'm glad articles come out like this, because otherwise we'd all be living in a sheltered world, not knowing that our club is actually a living nightmare off field.

Disaster.

Sponsorhip is the last thing i'm worried about, because it's goign to take a hell of a lot more than sponsorship and good membership to get us over our debt.

8 million is a sh1t load of money. The fact that we keep losing, and have lost more money again last year, is not making me happy.

I'm not sure why you think Smorgon's lying and covering up our financial position - it's not exactly a secret that anyone would think they could possibly cover up. Well, anyone other than John Elliott. Rose has quit because of how and when he's said it. If he hadn't mentioned Fitzroy & relocation, or waited until after the election he'd still be there. There's nothing in that interview that we haven't heard before.
