Yeah he did, also varied the timing of his leaps, and once or twice I noticed it had Sandilands baulking, allowing Maric to win a couple of clear taps himself. It was good stuff.

Not surprised to hear Ivan is doing well at the Crows.

He used to play in my son's Basketball Team at Keilor Thunder in his junior years and has always been intense and competitive even in the U11's!

Saw him develop into an elite junior basketballer and always thought he'd go on and play basketball. Made the switch to football pretty late, I think when he was about 16 and the rest is history. Anyway from experience, I have no doubt he will succeed and wish him all the best.

Ivan really took away that last 2 'gathering himself' steps that Sandi takes. Got into his body early and nullified him from various angles. Really liked his efforts on Saturday.

Not at all surprised to hear he's developing his leadership skills, I've always heard he's a really forthright and likable guy. His efforts this year have been great. I've never seen Maric as a #1 ruck, but he's certainly carried the mantle with aplomb so far this season.

Easy to forget he's still relatively young too.

Maric has ALWAYS been one of my absolute favourites, love him to death.

He gives 100% all the time, and his game is constantly improving. His work around the ground continues to get better, his work in the air, especially in dropping back into defence, has improved out of sight over the past 12 months and you can see he's now playing with so much more confidence.

Keep it up Ivan, you're a pleasure to watch.

Just thought I'd bump this as he's been doing a tremendous job. Interesting to note that as of Round 14 2010:

Ranked 5th in effective hitouts.

That's above the more fancied ruckmen including Cox, Kreuzer, Jolly, Hudson, Brogan etc.

Can't find an accurate stat on hitouts to advantage though. Would be interesting to note.

That was the best bit of individual play I've seen from a Crow this year. It wasn't fancy, just all heart and will.
