Kangaroos youngster MARK AINLEY is recovering well in hospital after successful surgery to repair a fractured skull.
AINLEY collapsed after a knock to the head during a Murray Kangaroos' VFL match last weekend.
He was operated on last night in St Vincent's Hospital in East Melbourne.
A Kangaroos spokesman says AINLEY is up and talking this morning, but doctors will keep him in hospital until the end of the week for observation.
AINLEY, who had been pushing for senior selection, is expected to be out for at least eight weeks.
