The most possies he has in a game is just 11, he avg something like 5 a game, you want him, you can have him, say any round 3 or greater cos i reckon some other team would do it. Mind you if i was coach i wouldn't be saying he would be delisted if he didn't get traded. My fellow hawk supporters may not agree with me, but he has shown nothing in the last month or so, he may need a new environment to get the best out of him ... even then i doubt he will be any good, i am sorry but his performance is not upto afl standards. If any team gives me a rd 3 or earlier pick for him, i would shift him their faster then you can say ... you get the idea, i just no longer rate him, in fact i would accept even a rd 4 pick for him, but i reckon some teams would be willing to give up a late 2nd round pick ... well that is my gut feeling, what would you give up? forget the fact i don't rate him, cos if i was trading him properly you wouldn't know that.
he does well to convert the little possies he gets, but he just isn't good enough in my book. Maybe i am being overly critical of him, cos i expected so much more from him in the past, but really avg 6 (just checked) odd possies a game is just not good enough, even for a small forward.Nightwolf_69 said:Yeh, i dont know really? Why would Hawthorn want to get rid of one of their only few forwards who can convert goals. I reckon we keep him, unless something impressive is offered.

Williams career stats
if williams touch the ball say 12 times a game he would have 66 goals this season, of course it doesn't work like that but i think i have kinda made my point.
i think all of those players get the ball more then williams, like i said don't get me wrong, williams does well with his little disposal, but its just not a good enough effort, he is too inconsistant, some games he will kick is 4 or 5 then he will go missing for 2 or so weeks, he is too inconstant, and when he doesn't kick 3+ you can really tell he fails to get the footy. Maybe if he played further up the ground he would do better, i just feel he is terribly over-rated, maybe you are right, if we were better, he would have better stats.Nightwolf_69 said:Williams= 33 Goals, Only Thompson has more for Hawthorn.
Has more goals than, Ablett, Guerra,Robinson, Pike, Okeefe, Leon Davis, Sampi and Chapman up until today. All quality players and goal kickers. Its your opinion, but its a fair return from an ordinary team

Certainly spending the time on the bench doesn't help, ok both Milne and Guerra only avg slightly more disposals, but other then Williams we don't really have another small forward, so it's not like a Milne/Guerra, Farmer/Medhurst all fighting for that one spot, that is one of the reason i expect more output from him. Yes we have struggled, and i hope i am proven totally wrong and he has a good year for us if he stays, but like Grendel said:Nightwolf_69 said:When you think about it, Milne is inconsistant, as to guerra, Sampi is aswell, they dont get all that many possies either. Maybe its the position as a SF, but most times this year hes chipped in with a couple, andyou cant tell me hes been getting alot of game time, Shwabby had him on the pine alot, and McDonald has given him more but still not alot. Work him hard pre season, get him to chase better and build his consitancy up and he may be very valuable.
those are the things that he is lacking in, they are a lot more noticable when he fails to get the ball more then 6 times a game and fails to kick more then 2/3 a game. I would say both Schwab and McDonald share my concern with his lack of effort if you like, at times, that is why he has being dropped and spend so much time on the pine, really who else could take his spot?... is more second efforts at the contest, an increase in intensity and a general improvement on this season in a few area's like those just mentioned.

Would prefer Jolly to Jamar anyday of the week, why are Melbourne fans even talking about this trade you blokes have finals and Aaron Davey, giving up already??.
cheers

If we use him in a trade to get a high profile player then possibly, but to trade him for a dud coz u want to get rid of him is not the option. If we persist with him and get him to work harder in areas, he could turn out a decent player. We did it with Smith, give him a go and a break i say, been one of our best for the year and can only get better with TIME

scroll down to 2004 Individual Games to see just how inconsistant he has being. His best effort was against the tiges with 8 possies and 5 goals, image what he could have done had he got 16 possies! After that it kinda gets a bit ugly imo.
just on me wanting to trade him for a dud, well its not quite like that, i am just fustrated at his lack of effort at times, and the potiential he has that he fails to show.
All right i will stop bashing Williams now, i hope he will be a lot better next year, and i hope all the faith the other hawks supporters have in him is justified.
