Two instances in the back half of the game I was pleased/impressed with.

One was taking a good mark in the F50 before passing it off to Aish for a better shot. Unselfish, did all the hard work. Loved it.

Second was taking a strong intercept mark as the ball came out of our F50, and delivered it back in for what turned into a score (iirc).

Should have been given a few frees for arm chopping over the course of the night. Also, 100% disp efficiency (granted from 9) and 5/9 contested is promising.

I think he's got a toolkit we can use, and a great mentality. Hoping we persist despite the inevitable inconsistencies.

Did what he had to do to answer the doubters. You cant judge a player on a single bad game but you can judge them on how they come back when they get their next chance. He did well and didn't look flustered at all, the week off probably did him good. Stuck some good marks and had to deal with some stiff umpiring decisions. He had a good game, would have been great if he could find a goal or two though. Maybe next week!

Who did he prove wrong tonight? He hardly contributed to the side.

Stuck his marks, had 100% de from 9 disposals and laid a couple of good tackles. Did enough to not get dropped next week. He generally looked like a footballer, which was not the case two weeks ago.

I think had Cox played last week we would have won and I say that even he had a shocker like the first game with dropping marks. You can kick it long to him and he brings the ball to ground. I lost count the amount of times last week GWS marked in defence, Cox plays and I think some of those GWS wins would have been 50-50 balls where we lock the ball in.
Take the rough with the smooth. The upside is I think he may become a power forward who will kick bags of goals occasionally, three contested marks tonight! I also think he may become a Rioli type in that the numbers of possessions may not count more the fact what he brings. Was unlucky today with the umpires as well as with the first game.

He played in pretty average opposition and didn't kick a goal or crack 10 disposals. It was improved performance but it hardly fills me with hope.

At the moment he’s not the long term answer. But improvement is all we asked for. We know he can kick goals, but the standout was when he started to clunk marks. As previously pointed out he attracts defenders and if he improves more they will panick more.

It wasn't a complete game but I got the feeling he gained more confidence as the game went on. Took some really good contested marks late and I thought he was fouled early with no reward which didn't help. If I was at the Club I would be contacting the umps telling them to pull their socks up.

He is so important to structure. I thought Varcoe looked good at his feet, tall defenders have to man him up and can't zone off. Not to forget because of his hight and ability to take the ball at the highest point, defenders check his run at the ball and tend to foul if caught behind.

The Bronx cheering of him tonight was a disgrace. He has played one bad game. Wasn't that great tonight but got r*ped a few times without a free kick. He will kick a bag very soon

The first two marks were bronx cheers but every other grab was genuinely cheering. It was awesome to see him take some contested marks in the second half, and that set-up for Aish in front of goal was really clean.
