It's stupid. All the OP's hard work deserves to get the primary thread that had heaps of views and replies instead of just the stupid "ins and outs". Why lock that thread? Now all the input is irrelevant. Pretty embarrassing aswell as neutral guests come in as viewers and see lack of views and replies to such hard work. They would want to see the discussion throughout the week too, given all the hype about Tippett and who should go out for him etc, now they won't even know that thread existed.

Its a good OP I liked the review, merging would be the simple answer but not sure how it would work with the contradicting post dates and times.

Simple. Just merge the OP and make SR's post the OP, and make all the replies in this thread the first replies in the other thread.

I am not a fan of merging the early thread with the official match preview. The official write up gets lost that way. I much prefer a new thread with the official write-up as the first post as we approach the game. The new previews have been great so far!

If you don't know how to quote from locked threads I don't think it's wise about the Tippett Avatar. .. You wouldn't know how to load it up

I think the transition from an "Early Thoughts" thread to a formal Match Preview is working well.

Hitting the New Thread button with: "Ins / outs??" 5 seconds after the final siren provides more value than the match preview?

Can't you at least appreciate and respect the time and effort people put into doing it?

It's good. I've learnt a few things and stats reading them, and i'm sure i'm not alone. It also gives us an opportunity to give feedback to the op, which leads to a constructive discussion regarding the match as to what has been stated.

It's much more relevant than just a boring "ins and outs".

The Brisbane Board gets the preview thread on the Tuesday before the game and uses the time before that to talk about the match that was just played.

A few options:

• The Brisbane approach which is to create a placeholder thread and lock it and prevent any discussion whatsoever until the preview is posted. A lot depends on how early the preview is finished, and given we're only a few weeks into this new way of doing things, I'm not sure how reasonable that is at the moment. In addition, it is a little too authoritarian for my liking and I remember being really frustrated before one Swans-Lions game when I went to the board to get some idea of their form and found absolutely nothing on the game.
• Keep what we have at the moment, an "Early Thoughts" thread which will close when the official preview is posted. The Early Thoughts thread will invariably include discussion about ins/outs but is certainly not restricted to exclusively to that topic. It is up to all of you to control where the discussion leads to. I really don't understand the fuss about the ins/outs, if you don't like talking about the ins/outs then by all means post your own thoughts about other topics. No one will stop you from doing so.
• Blood Bath's idea of merging the threads and making the preview (e.g. swansrule100's) the OP is not feasible, we can't re-order the posting dates, they are all arranged chronologically. I don't know about the rest of you but my idea of reading 20+ pages in one go is not really appealing to me.

But CAS, AG and I are keen to hear your ideas so please put forth your thoughts.
