Very depressing first quarter. We don't look like we've got a clue against this game plan. It's not like we haven't seen it at least three times before. Sure the Crows players look like they are working harder than our guys but the basic problem is that their structure is superior to ours. We have not come up with something different to that we've seen for the past year. If I have to see kicks backwards when a player takes a mark at half back throughout this game I'm going to spew. Why not at least chip it forward 20 metres. All this does is give the Crows time to flood back and start again.

Very good second quarter. We screwed around with it at the end when we should have kicked long around the boundary, when we were generally winning clearances. Port must make the most of the breeze in the 3rd, crows are very fit.

Can't we have a game plan where the ball gets chipped forward even if only 20 metres rather than giving up 50 precious metres of territory? Or where we kick the ball up the line and force a throw in 90 metres from goal?

The crows man up tightly for the short pass upfield and drop numbers behind that. In the end we very nearly frustrated a goal out of them when we went over the wing to Tredrea. The last thing we would've needed was to concede a cheap goal on the break at the death like Collingwood scored last week.

So isn't it better to kick it forward from 60 metres away from our goal than to have to do the same thing from 10 metres out? Don't forget that between that kick by Lonie back to the goalsquare and our attack up the other wing there wa s about 2 minutes of play. The kick back to the goalsquare did not set up our attack.
