It can be a clear goal scoring opportunity if the keeper is in the net and you are fouled by a defender, why does Cahill standing on the goal line make it not so? Its not a guaranteed goal but its certainly a clear opportunity to score which Courtois takes away from him by the foul. Correct call for me.

Great post. The interpretation of clear goal scoring opportunity is up to the referee. I hope Mourinho loses his shit over it. Been a bit off at the start of the season the special one.

That was clear a red as it gets. Good to see the ref not bottling it against the manager who tries the hardest to influence them. Good way to start the season watching Mou drop points in an easy game

In what way? Definitely a foul and a poor challenge by Courtois. Replays show it slightly inside the box. I don't see any issue at all with the decision. Being right near the edge of the box some refs might have given a FK but it is one of those that could go either way.

I think one could only have complaints if the foul was clearly outside the box. Which it wasn't.

If it's Cahill making that foul and Courtious' still standing in goal I don't think there's too many arguments about the card. As it was there was an open net with a defender rushing back once he's past so to me that's as clear as a goal scoring opportunity can get imo.

Whether it's inside the box in not sure I haven't seen too many angles but it was close.

On another note, I thought the cherries first game in the PL was really good and competitive. They just lacked a bit of class but They will get used too the tempo of the PL more as the season goes on, hope they do well.

And if anyone asks why he simply doesn't get his name changed, Dutch law makes this very difficult for anyone born before 1998 and under 21 (when they revised the laws). Basically, Depay can only get his name changed if it is proven that the name causes psychological damage to him.
