The maths subject I'm doing at uni at the moment is easier than specialist. The topics follow on from stuff you learn in methods/specialist, but you don't get ****ing hard questions like you get in specialist.

Good luck on the the exam...

Last Methods SAC ever today-Probability. My best topic out of the lot, so hoping for a reasonable mark.

I'm dreading the exam-definitely going to be my lowest subject. Hope I pass
Probability is a piece of cake.

Watch out for the 2nd exam though for Methods. Pass it and you're on your way to a 35+ mark. 1st exam is easy. Mulitple choice + short answer.

Had probability today-it wasn't a piece of cake

Some damn hard stuff in there!

Dreading the exams-if I was offered a 35 right now, I would take it in approximately 0.000000000000000000012 seconds ;)

Doing Further
A
A
A+ ( 59/60)

Looking for a plus 40, with another sac looking for an A+

You can do uni maths in yr 12, its higher than Specialist, but isnt considered a proper subject, you have to have it as one of you 5th or 6th subjects (so like 5% or 10% or whatever it is)

You need to be good at maths to do methods... not alright at it... if you basolutely hate maths i wouldn't bother doing methods and definitly not speci! General maths is pretty good... basic stuff that is simple to pick up!

Yeh i ran outa time as well focused on graphs & relations core and business as my weakness outa da 4 was trig. Killed the first 3 and did not 2 good on trig.

To anyone who is interested in doing eng, i'm in second year and from what i remember specialist is covered in the first 2-3 weeks and then they get stuck into more. So when you hear people say that they will teach you in a way that assumes you don't know much/anything, the reality is that uni can be really punishing, and will push you, in most cases, harder than VCE. Good luck for your exams.

I thought I went well in the analysis, only left out the one question in the business maths section. I know people who left out whole modules, which can't be a good thing.
MC was pretty easy, hoping for a 35/40 but quietly confident. I went **** in the SACS through the year, so hoping that my exam brings them up a bit.

I'm doing science and you get a choice of what maths to do.

The maths I'm doing now is easier than specialist maths but is more advanced topic. Specialist goes into much more detail in things like Volumes of revolution, complex numbers (****ing locus crap), vector proofs etc.

Second semester maths is integration by parts, substitution, guassian eliminiation, first and second order homogeneous/non homogeneous linear ODE, integrating factor Taylor/mclaurin series, partial derivates, functions of several variables. Way easier than specialist - the only tough part is series which is more analysis stuff based on convergence/divergence/radius of convergence

Is consolidated dumb arse maths?

I think its called foundation maths at my school. All i know is it is basically making sure the students know enough maths to get by in life eg. they started off the year learning how to round off to two decimal places.

I did Further and felt i did extremely well in it. Having my text was great cause i could just match up the worked examples with the questions and sub in the values. Finsihed the first one 30 minutes early and the second one 5 min early. Confident of getting over 90% in that, easy.

Methods i screwed up. The first one baffled me somehow, everybody else found it easy but i had no idea and bombed. Yesterdays was good though, except that i could not find a no matter what i did. it was something like 0=3-e^x-e^-x and a=x
I had absolutely no idea and made me very frustrated.

But if youre any good at maths, pick furher cause you should be able to get a good mark. I did no homework or the lke all year for further and instead came out of it with a few more friends and hiopefully a very high score.

Had to make a substitution for e^x. i.e. a = e^x. This left you with a quadratic equation whihc had to be solved using either complete the square or the quadratic formula. After a solution is found for a, e^x is then substituted in. And then from there rearrange using low laws to get the equation equal to x.
