MFC: Jones ready to go: Neeld

“He’s a midfielder from Box Hill, [standing] at 188 cm. One of the flavours at the moment is the midfielders who have got a bit of height, can run and play inside and outside,” Neeld said.

MFC: Pre-season update: Davis to Jones

45. Matt Jones
With the limited time that he’s had at the club over the pre-season, we’ve been really impressed with Matt, particularly from a football point-of-view. He needs to get stronger in the gym, but that will come with further time in the program.

I have seen him play at VFL level and I see him as a guy who is number 23 in team. A guy who could come into the team and hold his spot. Not necessarily in the best side, but what team goes without injuries? Really happy we picked him up. Such a good size and decision maker.

MFC: Jones is Demons' bright spark
Sometime this season Jones might match his grandfather, Trevor (who played one game with North Melbourne in 1940) and play a game at the highest level.

That would fulfil objective number one.

"I just want to play a game. That is my first goal. Other than that I have not thought too far into it," Jones told AFL.com.au.
Looks like a great bloke, does Jones. I take it from the article that he's probably not best 22 off the bat, but frankly he appears to deserve it.

Who here has a good knowledge of the players in the state leagues? Would love to draft another few quality players in their mould onto our list :thumbsu:

Should add Terlich to the title. Those two have had amazing starts to their overdue careers.

Feel free to make the thread, love a bit of Deano but this is all about J2.0

That's getting extremely carried away, he's been good but it's Nathan Jones and Colin Garland by a country mile.

Nat and Matt have very similar numbers. Not beyond the realms of possibility.

My tip:

1. Garlo
2. Nathan
3. Matt
4. Howe
5. Terlich

I think we should give Bail and Nicholson the boot and replace them with two more speculative mature-agers like Jones and Terlich. Obviously Kent and Clisby haven't been quite as successful yet, so we can't expect EVERY mature-age pickup to fire, but our average is certainly better with them than it is with other AFL clubs discards.

I think Jones and Terlich are both absolute locks for top-ten in the bluey (and conceivably top five), which is an indictment on the guys they're beating.

Kent is 18.

A great effort from a guy who, the year before drafted, started off in the Box Hill reserves. He has a lot of confidence and give him a few more KGs he'll be a damaging player.
