Lobbe can seriously play but his body is the issue and not to mention Port went all out for Ryder as well, fantastic to have him playing 2nd fiddle to Kruezer and allowing Matty to roam free more.

Touch wood but not hard to imagine Kreuzer and Phillips both being injured at the same time...remember when we had to play Gorringe vs Goldstein a few years ago??

A story someone at the club told me about Matthew Lobbe back in the pre-season of 2015.

There was a young kid who had been telling all his classmates at school that Matthew Lobbe "is my best mate". It got to the point that he was copping a heap of shit at school about it for being full of shit.
So apparently, somehow, Lobbe got wind of the situation, probably from a teacher or parent, and decided off his own back one day that he'd head out to this young kid's school.
So the kids were in class this day, and in walked Matthew Lobbe during the lesson and sat down next to the child, put his arm around him, and proclaimed in front of all the other kids that he was indeed his "best mate".

Long story short, the teasing stopped, and Matthew Lobbe is a really good egg.

After losing 2 gun rucks in Gorringe and Korchek this year, it's a relief to have back up in Lobbe.
Seriously though if Kreuzer has issues, he's ready to roll in and when Kreuzer plays, at least we'll have a couple of quality ruck-men, give developing mids in the VFL, half a chance.

Absolutely and I am sure this is half the reason Bolts got him to the club, we have seen with Richmond, Dogs, Hawks that having a strong VFL side is imperative to the development of a young group.

Welcome Matthew.

This is a really smart decision given our ruck stocks. With just two on the list - both with extensive injury histories - a backup ruck was clearly a necessity.

Matthew looked terrific in 2013 and 2014 but has barely been sighted since. I am not expecting a return to that form, but he can clearly hold his own at AFL level. More importantly, though, I feel he'll be terrific for the development of our young midfield group in the VFL.

From all reports he's also a terrific person which is exactly what you're looking for from your experienced players in a rebuild.

Happy to see him at the club for pick 95. He'll have a role to play over the next couple of years even if he never pulls on the navy blue jumper at senior level.

Welcome Matt! His SANFL form from that graphic above looks very solid. Insurance for Kreuz and ahead of Phillips, who is also injury prone. Will be more valuable than 95 to us in relation to his good character and high work ethic. We need that continually showcased for our young crew coming through. Happy with this addition
