That's exactly what I was thinking.

Healy is definitely entitled to have an opinion guys. We don't have to agree.. but the man does know what he's talking about!

It isn't the fact that Healy doesn't think Wade is up to it but the fact that he has fully endorsed Brad Haddin that people disagree with. Haddin is no good either and it reeks of boys club antics with the commentators all cheering on Haddin last night.

Okay, I'll cop that. I don't agree with him either.

However, my point was his right to an opnion has been earnt.

But Wade > >> Haddin as a choice for now and the future IMO.

Healy doesn't owe Haddin any type of loyalty and has been critical of Haddin in the past. Maybe Healy genuinely believes Haddin has improved and is now the best option?

So posters on BigFooty can have an opinion, no matter how uneducated, on the Australian wicketkeepers, but a bloke who claimed over 400 dismissals for Australia with the gloves is not entiled to his opinion?

Gotcha
This is a discussion forum, we're just a bunch of people talking about it.

Healy uses his position to pump up his mate at the expense of team harmony. He's pathetic: A shocking commentator and his cricketing brain is gawn.

Has Haddin improved or has he just returned to form?? Healy seems to be going out of his way to compliment Haddin. Didn't even comment on his dropped chance off Doherty

Queenslander prefers Queenslander.

One of Australia's great cultural consistencies.

Has anyone got that old Jeff Thompson/"Mitchell Johnson is the second coming of Christ" article handy?
FOTY 2012.
Please go back to the srp board :thumbsu:
I'm not sure that this really relates to your noble crusade against the corrupt police state in which we are forced to live. If only we were all as enlightened as your esteemed self...

Haddin should never play test cricket again. I have no doubt the boys club in the commentary box last night want Badhands back and were talking him up.

In his defense I thought Haddin did his job with the bat, giving strike to Hussey who had his eye in

Please provide evidence that Healy and Haddin are mates. Please keep in mind that Healy has publicly criticised Haddin in the past.

It would have been nice to get that catch, but it's difficulty was greater than the two Wade spilled off Lyon. My point is that if Healy, who has publicly criticised Haddin in the past, sincerely believes Haddin is the best option at the moment, then it is foolish to dismiss his comments as "boys club" talk. Lets just judge what he said on it's merits. Whether or not Haddin is the best keeper in the country is debatable, but IMO he shaves Wade at the moment.

Was it really?? Splitting hairs IMO. It is also a very different ask to be keeping in a test match as opposed to a ODI match.

The ones to Wade were feathers in comparison. Don't get me wrong, I'd much prefer a keeper to take those.

Are you suggesting that Hartley is not good enough to be an Australian test cricketer?

Yep.
Whatever your opinion of haddin, its just heart wrenching when things happen to children and you just wish him and his family and his daughter a good recovery.
happy to slag off Haddin's crap cricketing, shit like family is off limits.
It was remarkable the positive thread that came out at the time from everyone without a single snide comment regarding his daughter.
much kudo's to the forum.

As far as I'm aware, Haddin was also going through a lot of personal issues this time last year. I wasn't in the country but remember reading that it was the reason he didn't tour WI

As far as I recall Haddin wasn't even aware of his daughters illness until he was in the West Indies last year. I could be wrong though. Apparently Haddin was injured last year as well.

Do the people who think we pick the best pure keeper(even if he averages 20) think england are making a huge mistake keeping prior in for the ashes?

Prior like wade averages over 40 but prior also drops a lot of catches off spinners, in the recent indian series he scored vital runs but missed at least 6 clear chances.

Does that make prior a huge liability for england in the ashes?

Problem for me is that he hasn't seen anyone else play apart from the players who are selected for Aus so what choice does he have apart from banging on about Haddin in that stupid manner? You can tell from the way they talk in the Nein box that none of them ever watch any domestic Shield or Ryobi unless it's by accident. Healy even mentioned Hartley due to hearsay rather than having observed him.

There is no doubt about that. When they cover the occasional T20 international, they know nothing about the players who haven't played in Australian Test or ODI team, only the few highlights they might have seen on the news.

Healy reliving the time that he was dumped from the team for a guy who could destroy bowling careers from no.7, despite being more technically proficient behind the stumps. Haddin ~slightly~ less fumbling as a keeper than Wade, but a journeyman with the bat like Healy while Wade has already almost matched him for tons after 9 tests. It's like history repeating in ever diminishing circles of quality.
