i think people should acknowledge the simple fact that every single player who makes it to an afl list has talent and in most cases some good attributes at least.

we have struggled for so long not because we have drafted talentless players, no we have drafted far too many who have too many deficiencies to go with the good ones.

we have also struggled for so long because we have regularly failed to turn over these glass half full types quickly enough. the list is endless.

white is a a small player who lacks the requisite skills for a small player.
one who doesnt have the smarts to find the ball, and turns it over either by foot or poor decision making.
6 yrs of mostly this type of stuff with just enough decent roles games thrown in to keep the masses happy. sound familiar.

if i was a recruiter i would not touch him with a barge pole because he just doesnt tick enough boxes. so why hang onto a bloke for 6yrs who not only fails to tick the neccesary boxes but has in the main grossly underperformed weather it be afl or vfl.

as stated above if you play em enough even the worst players will have the odd good game. seems for some of us and the club the odd good game is good enough and all else goes out the window.

should not have been delisted this yr. nope it should have happened 3 seasons ago when it was patently obvious he would continue to struggle because of the many flaws in his game.

i have no doubt he will play the odd good game or perform the odd good role and for some of us will be that will be good enough .

yep, its the old tiger disease. The one where player x baulked an opponent and arsed a goal. That one time is hung onto forever.
Did you see that time, I saw him once, etc etc etc...Chaff, Hyde, Tiv etce etc and then you add the usual triffic on the training paddock, trier etc and you have a long serving tiger. What doesnt stick in the minds of tigerheads is the amount times they have held their heads in their hands, moaning Noooooooooo, whyyyyyyyyy??, FFS!!!...

Haha much like the joke at the end of my post to santa, it was a joke as stated by Dea Day. I dont take BF too seriously young fella and regardless of peoples opinions this is not personal, just a bit of fun.

I think its beautiful that you are flying the flag your mate, but I wouldn't let it get to you so much, you will age before your time.

Lets nip this whole debate in the bud dudes..

the simple answer to all the usual suspects debated in the tigerhead BF forum is as follows:

They all to a man have to play at 110% to produce a "good" game.

If they dont produce 110% , i.e. they produce 95%, the drop off is a distinct one, whereby at 95% they look like vfl, even suburban std players.

The difference with the top shelf is that their "run of the mill" types at 95% are 95% AFL players...the end.

It seems to me that there are a range of issues. How long is long enough for playes ?? how long does the club persevere in developing players? I'm pretty sure there was a thread not all that long ago discussing our (RFC) poor record in developing players coming into the club as well as recruiting. Not to mention how long does a coach get to develop a team after the club moves a whole group of players on ? Look at Geelong and Collingwood. Eight years, ten years before a prem?? In increasing competition for spots I think the clubs saying if your good enough take a position on the team. If not then guys like Matty white will retain their place. There were probably a few borderline players in the team when Dimma arrived but these guys will remain I think until club depth and development produces players who are genuine improvements and can take their positions not get given their position and in the long term thats probably what we all want, steady improvement.
