Absolute weapon. Third season but playing like a seasoned veteran. His defensive game is already elite, can't wait to see him further progress his offensive game in time.

He's only kicked one. I don't think we can say much yet.

I'm sure Michalanney would be useful anywhere on the ground, but the role he is playing is extremely valuable to us. We have plenty of players who go go through the middle or up forward. I reckon we should lock him in down back for at least the next few years.

I’m not saying he should be played out of defence in a hurry. Just that his foot skills and agility makes him a possible valuable utility player, kind of like Dawson, who has the foundation to be an all rounder. Already we’re seeing him doing more roaming up forward than most of the defenders, so I think he’s been given the license to do so, and more than likely, they can see his potential as a utility player.

I think there is merit in him playing more midfield and even up forward in the coming years. I’ve specifically took notice when sometimes he plays up forward and I think he’s possibly one of the most accurate kick for goals from what little I’ve seen of him up near the sticks.

Against GWS with ridiculous winds, where everyone was kicking them like balloons, he kicked magnificently on the run 50m out. Undoubtedly the best goal from long range that day.

Then against the Blues, he narrowly missed a goal from a similar long range.

Kind of reminds me of Andy Otten with that kind of defensive/attack role versatility.

No Max is a gun defender.

Probably isn't in AA contention at this point in time, however, Max could end up there quickly if his offensive numbers begin to increase.

Big time. Seems like the 2nd/3rd defender slots is setting up to be a four way battle between the good McGovern, Sicily, Worrell and Taylor at this point.

Not sure I see any chance of him playing forward regularly, but it's nice to know he's a swingman option if we ever need to break glass in the middle of a game.

Experiments like that are exactly what we should be doing when we face bottom sides like Richmond.

Since this thread has been bumped, i'll say barring injury, max will be a 300+ game player for us and in time could easily be in line for our team of the century down the track. He just does not play a bad game and his reading of the game is elite. The club should send Jim a case of the best whiskey for choosing to have kids later in life
