Rooke -

From the Mouth of Ablettjnr (the poster, not the player):

If there was ever going to be proof that the Geelong Football clubs selection panel have no clue, it's the fact that they left Rooke out last week. This is not a kneejerk reaction, I was puzzled by their decision at the time. If there was one bloke at the club that I would want playing when the season was on the line, it's Jarad Rooke. So last week, when the season was there, where was he? Running around in the ****ing twos. Their decision to leave out Wojac this week was just as baffling, but no where near as bad as leaving out Jarad 'I bleed blue and white' Rooke.

He was sensational today, this bloke is an absolute Gem!

Re: Rooke -

Absolutely agree - i had to reread that quote - i thought it was from the Gazman himself - lol

Rooke is a gun, but so too is the other player who is in question ... leaving Bomba Wojcinski out of the 22 is an absolute joke - enough said!

Re: Rooke -

With out a shadow of a doubt one of the most underrated tagger/players going around, this guy not only can be one of the best taggers in the competition but probably needs a tagger on him in the matchups aswell.

Re: Rooke -

Make the guy our next captain. All he needs to do is lead by example. If the rest of the team show the same commitment he does week in, week out, we'll be world beaters.

Re: Rooke -

We love Jarad Rooke. :) one of the most hard working players out there

Re: Rooke -

Not the most talented of footballers, doesn't have the best vision or the pace of some of the speed horses, but the term 110% was invented for this bloke.

Perfect model for any aspiring player

Leave your blind allegiance aside and look at it objectively.

Rooke is a G-U-N.

How good and tough is he?

Re: Rooke -

If I was to purchase a guernsey, at the start of the year I didn't know what number I would put on the back of it.

It was hard to go past some obvious one 29, 3, 30 etc.

I was also thinking about 11.

But after the last 8 weeks I will wear 33 with pride.

Even in the bad times it is a pleasure to watch a guy like this go about his business.

13 possessions, 5 marks, 6 tackles, 1 goal and 2 goal assists today.

Absolute gun. Probably playing a similar role to that which Mitch Hahn plays at the Doggies, but is doing it twice as well. His lead-up work is important too, as it allows both Moons and Hawkins to stay at home for the mark inside 50.

Shows exactly why the club sent him to Germany to get him right for the finals in 2007. :thumbsu:

I noticed a few times last year when he went forward he was a really good kick at goal. Let's face it he is a Legend. He can play well anywhere you put him. Players like that are worth their weight in gold!

Thought he was suffering a bit of Glenn Archer syndrome last year - toughness ahead of actual performance. But this year he's been magnificent; still the same hardness and utility in the middle, and can shut sweepers down, but can also be relied upon to boot a couple each week.

Another star we've plucked from country obscurity!

Great to see others noticed his game today.

He works so damn hard, monsters the opposition defence with his pressure and physicality, rarely wastes a possession and kicks goals.

He also provides excellent leadership is would have to be one of the most versatile players in the game, a player who can literally play every position outside of the ruck.

It's not hard to see why he's so loved, both by players and supporters.

Although there have been a few players that Thompson has persisted with that have not really worked out, Max is one that has been a real winner. Quite a few people were questioning his place in the team a few years back if my memory serves me correctly, but he has proven himself a real goer. David McKay named him in the votes today as the third best player on the ground as he 'adds to the structure of the forward line'. Good recognition for one of Geelong's less noted players in this fabulous side.
