According to them he has been informed he will be cut, terms of the cut need to be arranged as he is under contract for next year.

Its not often I take a brick bat to our club but this one was poorly handled. Why sign him for two years when he was clearly not up to it?

AFC:Hey Mcgreogor we don;t think your up to it but we'll pay you two years wages for one years work but we will have to pay you out at the end of the season so we can get it under the salary cap nice and tidy.

At least the club got 1 delisting right this offseason

sad to see a good server of the club and top guy finish his career on such a bad note
should have ended it on a high after the Elimination Final effort last year

Its sad to see someone like Kenny go. He was a crows crowd favourite, but never really broke any games open with a swag of goals.

the problem with this deal was...at the time McGregor was needed...possibly a 'just in case' option. they couldn't offer him a single year contract, as it was probably risking him walking out on the club (which in hindsight obviously would've been the better option for the club and himself if other clubs were interested in picking him up). hence, he was offered 2 years.

I love how the club is trying to cover their backside here. We haven't cut him but he as retired. In other words the club tries to dismiss the opinions that he was pushed.

IIRC, if McGregor retires, then he turn his back to the last year of his contract which means the club is not on the hook for the second year of his contract. If this is the case, then it doesn't go into the salary cap.

Whats the bet McGregor gets job at the club for retiring before his contract expired, ala Matthew Robran. IIRC, the Matthew Robran scenario was investigated by the AFC for potential salary cap breach.

Nope my only issue is the way the club is handling it. Got the most out of his talent just a pity the speed of the game passed him by.

Very poorly handled in my opinion, Kenny did not deserve for it to happen like this. Unfortunately the game has passed Kenny by though.
