5 votes so far i reckon... all judd has to do is walk onto the field to get votes sometimes...

Dont be ridiculous. Judd gets votes for his ability to win the contested ball and set something up every time. He is by a long way the best midfielder and the most damaging player in the comp. He deserves all the votes he gets IMO.

Early days yet. But more importantly, if he plays like this during the year, it will lift the team and help win us games.

Wish Stanton could do the same. He's got to start playing like he deserves the number on his jumper.

So far for me, McVeigh and Sam Mitchell are leading the Brownlow on 6 votes each. McVeigh could be a good bet to win it, or even top 5.

I was at the game and didn't see any incident.

How was he reported?

Don't think he was reported but the replays do not look good. Will definitely get cited.

Fev tried to block him and McVeigh gave him a short right on the chin. I can't see how he'll get away with it... maybe if he was Adam Goodes he'd have a chance but not with his record.

Not at all. He was yes but umpire love is worth many votes. In ben cousins brownlow year he got 20 votes. Last year simon black had a poor year for him and managed to get close to that mark. The umpires are largely influenced by who they like.

I just watched it again and he should be ok.

4th I think, however fevola instigated it and Mcveigh barely hit him. Would be very unlucky to get a reprimand. As fevola took a dive and started holding his face when he was tapped in the stomach, even though fevola charged him.

Exactly!! I never said he didn't earn votes ever.. hence why i said sometimes.. but umpire definately get star-struck...

Example last night... how many holding calls did judd get... and yet watson didn't get any awarded and was held just as much...

the usual suspects always get votes. particularly in games where there maybe one or two stand outs, and then a bunch of fairly even contributions, the votes will go to judd, black, goodes, etc. i'm sure even the great sir james got a few this way too. ;)

no doubt it happens, but i dont think it favours any team or player. just the way it is.

I hope he wins it. I put $5 on him for the brownlow at $351 to 1 prior to the season to return $1755. Would be a nice collect for a small investment.
The $5 I put on Stanton to return $1505 sure as hell is not looking likely.
Think Fev and Judd would have the votes though from that game.

Spot on. I was very surprised... actually no I wasn't, umpires are muppets!
