Has injury concerns having had LARS surgery but is otherwise a very talented forward/mid. Knows where the goals are and is a very good user of the ball by hand or foot and can work through traffic well. Is also a good mark for his size and has good speed and agility despite his injury so should prosper as a lead up medium-forward/goalkicking midfielder.

Fast player, plays half back and midfield/wing who enjoys breaking the lines, and set up alot of play reportedly at the Championships.

Tested extremely well at the combine

Was hoping for a Menzel to drop...but i think this its a need for Hawthorn with some pace through their midfield, also with Sewell, Mitchell, Hodge getting older

Height: 183cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 16/02/1994
Recruited from: Dandenong Stingrays
Style: Andrew Walker

Profile: Missed much of the first half of the season but since injury has put together some really nice form. Wright is an athletic defender who can also push into the midfield and have an influence. Wright has excellent pace and a great leap on him. As a defender Wright has the ability to play shutdown roles on smaller or medium types but can also run off a back flank and provide some rebound. Defensively he can go with most players in the air and won’t get burned by too many quicker types. Has the ability through his running to do some damage and can really burst away off a back flank with his explosiveness. With his leaping ability has the ability to take some highflying marks and with this feature of his game might also have potential as a forward. Tackling ability good. Wright also has the ability to go through the midfield, win his own ball and play a role. Kicking is mostly good and even at full pace can execute. I do have some questions under pressure how good Wright’s ball use is and I have some minor questions about his decision making ability in these situations but there is plenty to work with here. (Knightmare's work obv)

With his run and tackling shores up the Swannies' defence. Will slot right in and provide continuity with their backs, many of whom are getting on a bit - will take over from Mattner.

Player comparison:
Range: 5-30
Profile: Garner is an interesting player who can play forward or through the midfield to a high level. Up forward looks dangerous and is a strong marking target. 1v1 marking ability good and has some ability in the air. Has a great leap on him and can take a hanger. Tackling ability good. When he steps up into the midfield can win his own ball and is a very strong contested ball winner which is great to see considering he isn’t yet super strongly built. I do have some concerns over the consistency of his ball use and have found he isn’t always clean at ground level which is a concern for a forward, additionally decision making on a number of occasions throughout the u18 championships let him down and didn’t always find the right target, but there is a fair bit to work with none the less.

You seriously picked a bloke who has never played the game at pick at 19??? That completely trumps your Rivers / Dal Santo and Jetta / Rioli comparisons. LOL!

The mock draft isn't to get one up on other sides, your selection just makes you look like an even bigger fool. Yeah Adelaide have done terrible drafting, Talia, Dangerfield, Sloane, Walker, etc etc Gunston and Tippet (despite the latter two leaving) in the last few years.

Rivers was good up forward, but the Dal Santo comparison was comical at best, even more so becuase Dal Santo is not even a forward himself.
Jetta did improve later in the year but is that far behind Rioli it is a joke you even mentioned them in the same breath.

GWS Pick#24: James Stewart, Sandringham Dragons; 197cm; 82kg.
Tall player who can fit in either forward or back. Obviously Cameron/Patton have the key forward posts covered, however I don't know that the Giants' back-line is really bulging with KPD's. Stewart reads the play well, is a strong mark and handy kick. Also a tidy player at ground-level and in traffic and should provide good rebound out of defence. Still very light but has plenty of growth and development to go and as the Giants mature should be able to slot into the backline.

GC #23: Tanner Smith, North Ballarat; 194cm, 83kg

A KPD for GWS to develop for life after Bock, more of a needs pick rather than best avialibe. That said Smith was regarded as the best stopper at the champs. I've been stewing over this selection as originally I wanted a KPD, but had changed my mind to go in another direction. However with limited KPP in this draft i swayed bacearns went needs early rather than later.
