Hey all

Sorry if this is on the wrong forum, but I figured this is the most appropriate of them all.

I'm living in small town Canada this year and am wanting to know if there is any way to watch the Melbourne Cup online. For the AFL Grand Final I used TV Ants to watch it via the "Australia Network" (whatever that is). Does anyone know if that will work for the Melbourne Cup too? I've been trying to watch it since the Grand Final but I get some crazy soccer thing with Japanese letters everywhere :(

If there's any other way I'd really appreciate knowing. Unfortunatly for me going to a bar is out since I really am in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. :thumbsd:

Thanks in advance.

Go to tabracing.com.au if you have a betting account it enables you to log on and if you look in the top left hand corner of the home page you will see "LIVE" button and next to it two other buttons "AUDIO" and "VIDEO", once you've logged in click "VIDEO" and a window will pop up where you can watch SKY channel live in either 128k or a better quality 300k format. You'll need a fairly fast internet connection to watch it properly in the better quality format. Also, when you first ever click the video link sometimes it will say you need to have an account to watch it (even when you're logged in). It's got something to do with cookies or settings somewhere, and can be fixed by clicking the help button and following the prompts.

Actually i'll cut'n'paste for you:

1. Tabcorp wish to advise customers that Microsoft Internet Explorer is required in order to acquire and download a DRM licence for viewing the SKY Channel Video streams. This is due to the proprietary nature of the Microsoft DRM process.

Once a DRM licence is successfully acquired the video streams can be accessed and viewed using any browser.

Tabcorp apologise for any inconvenience caused.

2. Tabcorp recommend that you have the latest version of Windows Media Player™ installed on your computer (currently version 11).

To download the latest version of Windows Media Player™ click one of the following links:
Windows Vista; Windows XP; Windows XP Professional Edition - click here.
Windows 98 SE, Windows Millennium Edition, and Windows 2000 - click here.

Please follow the steps below if you encounter further difficulties.

If you are experiencing problems accessing the new SKY Channel Internet Video, please follow these steps:

Firstly, it is helpful to clear out the cache and temporary internet files on your PC:

* In Internet Explorer go to Tools on the menu bar and select Internet Options
* In the General tab select Delete under Browsing History.
* Select Delete Files to delete Temporary Internet Files
* Select Close then click OK. The window will close.

Secondly, it is wise to remove any old or expired licences that may exist on your PC. Follow these steps to remove any existing licences:

* Open your file browser by double clicking My Computer on your desktop.
* From the menu across the top of the window select Tools > Folder Options... and a window will open.
* Select the View tab.
* Select Show hidden files and folders then click Apply followed by OK button. The window will close.
* Then navigate to the following directory: c:\documents and settings\all users
* Delete the folder named DRM.
* To re-hide hidden files and folders select Tools > Folder Options... from the main menu.
* Select the View tab.
* Select Do not show hidden files and folders then click Apply followed by OK button. The window will close.

Now follow the steps below to acquire a new licence for SKY Channel via the internet.

* Logout of your Tabcorp Internet Betting Account and close the browser.
* Open your Internet browser again and access RaceTAB (NSW) or TAB Racing (VIC).
* Log in to your Tabcorp Internet betting Account.
* Click on the LIVE AUDIO & VIDEO button at the top left of the website. The Media Centre will open in a new browser window and the audio stream will begin automatically.
* Click on either the 300k SKY button or the 128k SKY button.
* If this is the first time you have accessed secure video content, you will be prompted to download a security upgrade to the Windows Media Player so the media player can receive digitally protected content. This upgrade is performed by Microsoft to assure that your digital content is delivered securely to your computer. This process is a one-time process and once you complete it by clicking on the OK or YES button you will not have to do this again.

The prompt screen varies according to the version of Windows Media Player you are using, as shown on the pictures below.

Please note: some corporate and personal firewalls may block this download process. In this case, unfortunately, you will be unable to access the live video.

Hope that all works for you.

Thanks very much for that Deej :thumbsu:

I've been with TAB for about 6 months now and hadn't been able to work out the video until now, much appreciated! :)

Thanks for that Deej. I tried to sign up as a online betting member but unfortunatly I keep getting page cannot be displayed right at the last step on both of my computers :( Hope it hasn't taken $20 off my credit card.
