MELBOURNE will again endure a massive turnover of players this season as it attempts to mould a more competent group after three poor years.

The Demons have already used 35 players at the elite level this season after playing either 39 or 40 players in each of its previous three seasons.

I didn't take either of those things from the article, think it was just a bit of a pump up for Jurrah and Tapscott. Great news!

I think its poorly worded and the use of the word "turnover" is misleading.

It's point seems to be that we have a lot of players being rotated through the senior side and that it is expected that there will be more inclusions before the season finishes.

Massive turnover refers to the number of players to come in and out of the side this year, at least that's how I interpreted it. As such, I don't really think it relates to delisting and trading players at season's end.

Having said that, we'll probably be delisting the likes of PJ, Martin and Bell at the conclusion of this year.

It'd be really nice in a couple of years to have the depth of teams like Geelong and Collingwood who have had the luxury of 'resting' players this year. It may become the norm for footy clubs to do this once a longer season commences.
