They say a Rolling Stone gathers no moss. And this saying could not be more true when you look at the Melbourne Moss Football Club.
They last won a premiership in the year 1964 - the very same year The Rolling Stones released their first album. Since then The Rolling Stones have managed to put out an amazing 65 releases. The Moss has managed to make a whole 2 grand finals in that time.
And what performances they were. A 96 point spanking at the hands of Hawthorn and a 10 goal hiding by the Bombers.
Fed up, The Moss's supporter numbers have dwindled. Mick Jagger has fathered more children than The Moss has members.
So the question must be asked... why bother? This question was answered in 2005. The Moss were again teasing their very few supporters as they sat 2nd on the ladder. 1st vs 2nd at the Home of Football in round 13. That day the top of the ladder West Coast Eagles put The Moss in its place. Unfortunately The Moss never recovered from that devastating loss. They quickly fell from 2nd to 7th. Scraping into the finals The Moss then got reamed by Geelong by 9 goals.
But The Moss somehow managed to slip into 7th spot again the next year. In a final insult to the football world they gave Fremantle their only ever win in a finals match. Words can not describe how truely pathetic The Moss has become.
Maybe pictures can.
