Let's perhaps look at it this way...

If some new corporation comes to The Tigers wanting to sponser us and have never done so before, do we think their money is worth less to us?

Or alternatively, if a corp. who used to sponsor us say 10 years ago now comes knocking on the door again do we give them less value for their money because they chose to invest their marketing dollars elsewhere for a while??

Nup... we take them on board and thank them very much for the $$$$$$$$.

Not too much different in my book.

I think the moratorium is a great idea - as long as it brings members in, rather than deters them (see PHX's post). Obviously that's not solved easily, and would need stringent conditions placed upon it.

As we would take any membership dollars that come our way.

Perhaps the answer is two categories.

Years of membership and years of continous membership. years of membership now get all that he current reward program offers - continuos get that plus something else.

Maybe ten years continuous gets you the 11th free? (missed putting in the smiley face over the obvious double standard!!!!)

$50 Fee/donation for every year you need to make up sounds good to me.

Miss for two years, then it's a $100 fee to re-instate your length of service.

Great idea mate.

I missed 2 years when in a band touring and the manager paid me a wage and I felt guilty using it on membership money.

I will pay the RFC 100 to reinstate my membership years I have lost and the club gains by making some extra cash.

People don't have to do it so it works both ways.

Great idea and should be given full consideration by the RFC.

Whatever the case, a moratorium is just an idea that would entice old supporters to come back.

Perhaps another idea that would entice these people to come back would be to have the club hunt down the current locations where all these old supporters live and then get a pair of old and new player to go door knocking and talk them into signing up again. Sure it'll take a lot of work to do this but I think we should be proactive in signing up supporters who has not bought a membership in a long time rather than waiting for them to return once we won a flag.

...wicked idea...:thumbsu:

...not sure if both the current and older players would be willing to give up their spare time to door knock potential supporters...

...but can you imagine the face of a non current member if jack reiwoldt and roachy rocked up on their door step selling them a membership?!? priceless!!!....

...would be hard to say no...:thumbsu:...

Yep. And why don't they get a loyal member to contribute $100 to their membership for their first year just to incentivise them a little further to sign on.

Where is the reward for members that sign up every year?

Should I just drop my membership for a year so I can get a former or current player call me or visit my house?

Reward the loyal.

When we are successful, other supporters will sign on as members.

Finals seats are their incentive, and unfortunately new members will be treated the same as loyal long term members.

I think you missed the point. I'm not specifically talking about people who skipped a year or so, I'm talking about the ones who were disgruntled in the 80s and refuses to sign up. With a little bit of a kick in the backside, maybe they'll sign on.

It's trying to get the ones who haven't signed on for more than 10 years or so to come back. Maybe I should've expressed my idea more clearly.

What about a point system.... every year that you are member you get 1 point... if you laps a year you lose 2 points or go back to zero depending on how many points you have....

as others have suggested you could buy back those points??? or not.... then the More points more the benefits......etc...etc....

also absentee memberships could be looked at also... for those traveling the world etc.... 2 months notice before season starts equals no loss of points and no fees....

Absentee membership with 2 months notice equals 2 more points and a cost? .... just an idea

I am undecided on this one. While I believe that loyalty should be recognised and rewarded when a person sticks through thick and thin. I think it would be harsh if someone was a member for 25 years and miss a year due to unusual circumstances for them to be recognised as being a "new" member. In fact it would almost be insulting to the person.

Maybe a better idea is to be recognised on milestones and if you lapse you go back to the start of the previous milestone. In a way we already have this (E.G bronze, Silver, Gold members). What that means is that if a Silver memebr lapsed on his 6th year and renews two years later he will only be recognised as a "new" silver member and officially recognised is being a member for 3 years (I believe this is the amount of years it takes to be a Silver member).

Not really dude, the new age way is to outsource the work. All they need to do is get the jehova witnesses or the mormons on the line and print a few of those Richo masks and either Martin or Cotch masks and let them do the ground work for us. ;)

Or they just sign on as a Tiger Insider which doesn't get you match access but you are still a member of the club.

There are many overseas and interstate Tiger supporters who sign on as non-match day access members as a show of support to the club.

If you think about it, by voting against this you are saving the club money in silver and gold merchandise they'd have to give out with memberships. I would be shocked if people didn't buy memberships based on this.

I propose a 1 year grace peiod, after that you're back to 1st year.

gotta luv the thinkers. I mean "think about it", by voting against it you will save the club about $5.42 per returning member on the made in china merchandise as opposed to their $$$ on their membership.
Tigerheads need to realise that its the more the merrier and however the club can reel them in they should have our backing. ;)
