So i ring the club on tuesday to make sure my family redlegs membership will be here before xmas, as 1 adult is for my mum, and they were sent out on monday i was told by a young lady in the membership department. Its now friday afternoon and nothing. Considering it gets paid in october you would think that I would have recieved it. Poor form by the team down there, thats 1 xmas present i wont be able to give to my poor old mum :mad:. 25 year member who isnt at all happy!
Anyone else had this problem?
 
Came home and asked my sister for the package I should have had a week ago. When she refused to give it up after thorough questioning I called the club and ranted a bit.

Turns out the post was late :p It finally came today at 5. A bit peeved that we have to pick up our scarves/flashing horns next year (unless you're in the country/interstate).

EDIT: Just realised I said 5 o'clock, but didn't realise when I made this post that it was 4:45. Mega fail on my time estimate skills.

Just be happy you got it. Its stuffed up my present for my mum, what an absolute joke, why was it sent so late, shithouse in my opinion.

That really sucks to hear, if you didn't get it today. Was rather disgusted with how late they've come out, especially considering everyone paid in October. As far as I know most other Vics clubs got there's a few weeks ago. Club's failed to realise a lot of the memberships are bought as Christmas presents.

Do you live far out from the city?
 
Last year I purchased mine in October and hadn't received it by the first week of January so I emailed the club when they opened up and they told me they sent it out but will re-send another membership and I received it in the first week of Feb. Wasn't all that pleased about it but it didn't bother me too much because I new I'd get it by the start of the season and it wasn't a Christmas present.

To be fair though the club should know how heavy Christmas posting 'traffic' is, and try to send them out earlier. When you sign up it says 'Mid-December'....

I'm sure they don't intentionally wait til the last minute to process and post memberships. It's a very busy period for them and they have probably been sending out new batches every working day.

Come on man, the club should have started sending them out at the start of December. Whats the point of paying in October, and still not having it nearly 3 months later? Its a shithouse effort from the membership department, thats a fact! The club should have the policy that if you pay for your membership by 30th November then you will be guaranteed to get it by christmas and should be priority, i have no doubt that others have recieved their packs even though they paid in November/December.

They could've sent them out earlier and all of this trouble would've been avoided.

It isn't as if this is a new venture we're dealing with, the club should know by now when to send memberships out so that they make it in time for Christmas.

They might have sent them out early it doesn't mean they can't get stuck in the post.

Fact is, you don't know when they were sent out so how can you comment about what the club should have done?

The club doesn't send them out, they are done through an outsourced company.

I got mine well before christmas. I guess if you sign up just before christmas, you maybe leaving it a little too late for a present.:rolleyes:

Considering you paid that early I would have called up well before Christmas (early december) and ensured that they were being delivered before the date you needed.

If it arrives after today I would be concerned, but really its your own fault for not doing due diligence in following it up.

That said, maybe yours has been sent, but the information was incorrectly filled out or has been mis-delivered?

I think you're too quick to lay blame on others, and besides are you or your mother really that concerned over the token of the membership card for Christmas. (Isn't is the thought that counts?)

Are you for real? Firstly the club said they will be sent out in mid december. Secondly how is it my fault that the idiots down their havent gotten their asses into gear and sent them earlier. Thirdly its the same postal info ive had for the past 4 years. And lastly it is a xmas present i get for my mum every year, do you realise that its not a good thing to go see your mum on xmas day without a present?
I spoke to 1 of my mates who i meet at every game earlier today, he recieved his membership pack on wednesday, and guess what? he paid for it late november.
For a professional sporting club, its very unproffesional and quite embarassing really

Show up with a bunch of flowers, it's not like she will miss a game because her membership card isn't there right now.

If you relied on it so badly that you are this worked up about it and you decided to make a thread, why didn't you take responsibility for ensuring it would arrive?


Bitching to BigFooty wont make it happen, calling the club and telling them how important it is will.

Watch it turn out this clown filled out his address wrong and the membership turned up down the road.

Do you work for the membership department? It is their sole responsibility to make sure that if they say that the packs will be sent out mid december they actually do get sent out. And you say i should have gotten her a bunch of flowers? You try having to spend money at xmas with 4 kids, some of us do it tough financially you know!

You failed to take responsibility for something you clearly required and you're blaming someone else.

You should have.

Called the membership department to ensure that your card was sent out and to the correct address.

Have you never booked tickets/hotel/purchased a gift online before?

Take responsibility and make sure what you need is available/arrives at the time you need.

I have no affiliation with the Melbourne membership department, but the way you've jumped on here and abused them, someone had to stand up and say maybe you didn't do your due diligence.

PS. You can pick flowers for free.
 
But how is it my responsibility? What your saying is ridiculous. The membership department stated they will be sent out mid december, they have my correct address as I got the magazine about a month ago. I paid in october, it should have been sent out, and i have every right to get on here and say what a joke it is that it hasnt come, i cant ring them because there closed atm, but i will tell them how it is. Why does it not get sent out after youve paid for the item? It makes no sense how things are run down their.
How you can turn it around and put it back on me is mind boggling.
 
It is the clubs responsibility to get the memberships to you before the start of the first AFL game of the season.

It's your responsibility to ensure a gift you want to give someone arrives before you intend to give it.

You failed to follow up and you got caught out, learn from it or spend life whining.

Like the proverb says 'If you want something done right, do it yourself'

I booked a hotel and restaurant for my girlfriends birthday a month ago,
Did I call up a week and a day before to make sure that my reservations were all in order and that there were no hiccups? Damn straight I did.

Maybe next time something is so important to you, you should follow suit.
