Because we've retained Thompson and are supposedly interested in Barlow.
Both moves seem at odds with the development route.
Yeah, I dunno. If anything, the retention of Thommo is a nod towards us taking the development route, by keeping him in a mentor type capacity, as well as a backup if / as needed. Seems like a logical and sensible thing to do.
The caveat to that of course is that Thommo plays most of the time in the ressies, with a younger player playing taking his place in the starting 22. If it happens in reverse and Thommo plays most games and keeps a young up and comer out of the side, then yeah, it's very much at odds.
Not sure what to make of Barlow, but it's all hearsay at the moment, so we can't draw conclusions either way can we?
