No Barlow, No Adelaide.
Our whole year is over. Let's give up.
No one knows what they're doing at AFC. Why are they even getting paid? They can't even bring over an overrated plodder who was delisted to our club.

Read this post in a sarcastic voice

It's fun times during the trading days
'Cos at the AFC we never cave

Read in lighthearted tone.....

OK, Carlton fans. I get that you're upset that one of your favourite players doesn't want to be there. But if you come on here giving attitude, expect infractions.

so im allowed to comment on the highlighted comment? i was actually being serious and a also having a little fun.

I was thinking the same thing, the only positive has been we've had the balls to walk away.

The rest of our offseason has been a shocker though.

We should have been a little more upfront and honest, then it wouldn't have been. We could have said " because of previous sanctions we are reluctant to trade our first round pick as we believe it is vital for our list regeneration at this point" which could have lead us to then say mid Gibbs "Carlton CEO would like us to trade the same amount of first round picks as he cost us as CEO of this fine organisation, he truly is a dummy of the highest order".

Could have left it at that, sure it wouldn't have been a busy, successful trade period but it would have been piss funny and honest.

An outstanding trading and free agency period for the Adelaide Crows, skilfully managed by that crafty master, Justin Reid.

The club had a stated objective to strengthen its mid-field and outside run in this period.

Yessir, we managed to achieve this by selling Lyons for a bag of beans and Henderson for a the smell of a bean. No flies on Reid.

A couple of more years with the list in the hands of this list genius and we'll be nearly as good as Brisbane.

Next year will be Sloane for pick 68 coz '' you know he was only pick 44 and its been a few years'' ( car selling technique 101) while re-signing Thommo for '' 1 more year to help the up and coming mids back flankers''

No we wanted him, we didn't go cold on Barlow

Only going on Clubland talk, they went Cold after the Pyke and Club Medical. before that they wanted him and were going hard.
similar was also reported in WA about the Crows going cold which happen after his visit and talk with Pyke

Or GC sold their club and vision better than us.

Players should be desperate to play in front of our big crowds at AO. Team on the rise etc.
$$$$ ?? Or more likely longer term deal. Everyone else is either leaving GC or wants to leave.

I'm more concerned about our trade period than I am on missing out on Barlow

It's probably a good thing we missed out on him from a long term perspective. I think signing him would just be kicking the can down the road a couple of years and was a short term fix to a long term problem. What that means now is we absolutely MUST get some game time into the likes of Wigg, Milera, Menzel, Knight + Pick 13. We just can't go into the same situation next year minus Thompson and Mackay and Douglas 1 year older and probably more inconsistent and still go "I dunno if Wigg is good enough to play AFL". We need to find out for sure.

This is probably where the Trigg sanctions really start to hurt. If we didn't lose Danger we might have been able to ride through it, but it's exposed a massive hole in our midfield where we don't have another 21-22 year old coming through to take the load off and we completely failed to bring in someone of that profile through the trade period. We can only thank our lucky stars we got Matt Crouch, but we needed to add more than him.

Both are very concerning even if not getting Barlow was the right move.

If we wanted him, I would hope we could get the deal done. But we didn't. Again.
