*BUMP*

Interesting looking back on this thread now (Salim probably wont be fond of it though). Seems Barlow could be another prime example of a mature age footballer developing well at the 2nd level down and taking his opportunity in the big time. Hope he can continue his output and he looks to be a great team man and level headed, old school footballer imo.

Never said Barlowe wouldnt make it,Jeez I.m totally over the moon that he has turned out to be the champion player and clubman that he has. I just preferred the wait and see option and what he had to offer under AFL conditions. Fantastic that both Deboer and Barlowe have produced the goods.
Same situation applies to Mzungu, Faulkes,Lower and Griffen, lets wait and see what they have to offer.
Hope one of them turns out to be 1/4 as good as Michael:thumbsu:

I think Mzungu is the most likely this year from what we've got, and with mora out maybe more time on a wing. Cant wait to see him play:thumbsu:

I'm with you Salim, far too many people read a players bio or hear one of the coaches speak highly of a player and decide they're going to be a superstar before they've even debuted (not saying that was necessarilly the case in this thread).

I was gutted when we took Balla's at pick 21 and am happy to have been proven wrong on that one. Better to have an opinion and call a few of them wrong than claim every player will be a gun based on eff all.

I've got to say I felt the same when we overlooked Darling for Pitts, hoping he proves me wrong.:thumbsu:

I really do think that we made the right decision with Pitt over Darling. Skill in delivery is what we need all over the park. We are almost there and will get even better in the years to come.

Pitt and Darling are different types of players but Darling is an 'undersize' key position prospect and Anthony already fills that role with better accuracy. Anthony also does not come with the off field issues with Darling.

Pitt is the most highly skilled player in the draft on both feet and plays in a midfield role at pick 20. Thank you VERY much!

Probably a reasonable thing to point out that Darling & Anthony are the same height, I doubt height was an issue with any of the clubs. A leading forward is a leading fwd whether you're 187 or 200cm.

Still happy we went with Pitt over Darling though.

i 2 was disappointed we "wasted" pick 21 on a potential jockey with a bung hand.
now, Ballas is my buddy & he is my fiance's fave player (she is from overseas & has seen 1 game live, many on tv)
he would get a game at any club IMO (even StK) & he was a fantastic choice.
i was so happy we got Pitt & did not go 4 the less than questionable character from west perth.
let's see who has the most fun in the future with regards to the then hindsight.
i'll admit i was also mystified as to why we took Roberton & it is taking a longer time than normal 4 him 2 grow on me (maybe it is that high ball drop when he kicks which puts me off), so my gut says he will be the one 2 watch this year (with respect 2 improvement)

To me, Brett Deledio resembles a less gifted Michael Barlow :D
Some great comments looking back
lacks hurt factor. He could possibly play as a tagger if necessary with his incredible endurance.

I wouldn't say he's 'very skilled', though - he's reliable, but he'll never wow you.
:D:D:D:D
