When the players themselves seem to struggle to understand the gameplan, what hope have we poor mortal supporters/fans?
However, I guess the obvious thing from the start is Mick has tried to implement his (in)famous boundary hugging style gameplan.
Problem is, you need a very fit squad to be able to handle this. Big FAIL there for us already. Plus I suppose you need players with pretty decent defensive nous and let's face it, we have a lot of players who don't appear to be the most footy smart. And the ones who do appear to have the smarts, are not the dour defensive types anyway - they're typically our more attacking players who have some flair.
And then the thing I absolutely cannot fathom - playing half the midfield as taggers. In a nutshell IMO Mick's gameplan seems extremely negative in it's approach and lately we're seeing all the attacking flair completely taken away. For a while we would see the Ratten gameplan re-emerge for a quarter or two and we'd play quite a bit better but now, we just about never see it. We've got a negative, restricting type gameplan for a list that will probably never be able to properly play it.
