As I said on the main board, bewildering when you think about the fact that Matt Thomas dumped Nathan Bassett earlier this year and came away scot free.

I expect us to challenge.

..and especially since the tackle on Harvey in the St.Kilda vs Port game was not sited.

Re: Milburn - two weeks (with a guilty plea)

It was rated as "high contact".

So is the turf getting suspended or is Milburn?

The actual offense is a 4 week offense. Pretty odd considering its a 0 week offense for everybody else.

Re: Milburn - two weeks (with a guilty plea)

It would appear that the MRP have put all the "incidents" from the weekend into a hat and the unlucky ones have been pulled out......

Re: Milburn - two weeks (with a guilty plea)

We'll challenge, and i'd be shocked if he didn't either get off or have it severely downgraded.

I tend to be one that believes that you take the good with the bad in terms of MRP decisions, so i'm not going to complain but i sincerely hope put the blatantly obvious holes in their assessment to the test at the tribunal.

Re: Milburn - two weeks (with a guilty plea)

Absolute f&^*ing disgrace..

Balmy will be all over this already. Look forward to a successful tribunal hearing..

Browne from Carlton got 3 weeks coz Porplyzia slipped on the turf..

WTF is with this MRP?

Re: Milburn - two weeks (with a guilty plea)

I could be mistaken, but I thought that they said on TEN news that Milburn got 4 weeks. Can anyone confirm?

Re: Milburn - two weeks (with a guilty plea)

Darren Milburn, Geelong, has been charged with a Level Four engaging in rough conduct offence against Shane Edwards, Richmond, during the third quarter of the Round 18 match between Geelong and Richmond, played at Telstra Dome on Saturday August 2, 2008.

In summary, his previous good record means that his sanction can be reduced from four games to two games, with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), high impact (three points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of seven activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Four offence, drawing 425 demerit points and a four-match sanction. He has an existing five-year good record, which reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 318.75 points and a three-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 239.06 points and a two-match sanction.

Whilst I agree with reckless conduct and high impact, how can it possibly be high contact??? around the arms! They must surely challenge this.

Re: Milburn - two weeks (with a guilty plea)

the bias is amazing, well and truly worth 2 weeks min.

i love the cats as a team and most of the players but milburn did cross the line with slamming edwards. virtually power driven head first.

good call mrp.........got this 1 correct

Re: Milburn - two weeks (with a guilty plea)

I expected a reprimand or 1 week with an early plea if he got cited. Didn't expect this much. I doubt they'll challenge as they're risking a further 2 weeks on the sidelines if he's unsuccessful. Too much risk.

Terrible decision if they want to go for consistency.

When I saw it I immediately thought of the Matt Thomas tackle and how similar it looked. I haven't seen many replays of it so it may have been different in some regard.

Browne from Carlton got 3 weeks coz Porplyzia slipped on the turf..

Porplyzia had one arm held and was then hip and shouldered to the head metres off the ball. That said 3 weeks seems pretty over the top though given the other punishments given for head high contact this year.

Re: Milburn - two weeks (with a guilty plea)

For me (and I suspect others) the thing with the MRP is the inconsistency. I'll cop Milburn getting 2 weeks if other similar incidents this year were given the same treatment.

If it is true that the Harvey tackle wasn't cited then is it any wonder supporters whinge about it? Especially when other instances of the same thing weren't cited earlier in the year.

This is head scratching stuff. I guess the free kicked awarded to Geelong when the tackle was laid has to be reviewed as well.

I'll be expecting the AFL to stand down the umpire in question this week....but I won't hold my breath.

Just like umpiring, all we supporters ask for is consistency.

You bias is amazing, yes. Strange only Richmond supporters think it's a good decision. Milburn couldn't have known he didn't have the ball, or that both arms were pinned. It was a split decision thing. Farcical decision. I fail to see how Milburns was any different to Surjan's or Thomas' from earlier in the year.

The Browne one is a shocker too, even worse than Milburn's. The only person I thought in trouble this week was Lenny Hayes, who got off free and clear.

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE ****ING JOKE!

HIGH ****ING IMPACT? MILBURN MADE NO IMPACT. HE WAS IN A ****ING TACKLE!

HIGH CONTACT?

HIS ****ING ARMS WERE AROUND HIS TORSO. NOT HIS HEAD...

Its funny that the only person who said it was the correct decision is a Richmond supporter...
