Re: Milburn's bump

yep, mite get a 1 week holiday, ive seen fletcher from essendon get done AND get off for almost the exact same thing.

Looked bad, probably cited, not sure about the penalty though since it's relatively unusual for a player to miss games for an attempted trip now.

Haven't seen the Milburn one but Cornes moved slower off the ground than I've ever seen a player do. I've seen blokes on one leg move faster. It seemed to me an attempt to break the momentum.

Re: Milburn's bump

He'll get a medal because it was only that twerp Chad Cornes.
Cornes should be up for time wasting. It would've been quicker to shoot the prick and take his body off on the stretcher.
Not often you hear a guy with a bloody head get the bronx cheer.

Re: Milburn's bump

Milburn must've had his angry pills today. He ironed out another Port player with a textbook shirt front in the first term too.

That was Stewart wasn't it? The interesting thing is that he didn't go as hard as he could have in that one. He was wide open, if Dash'd gone as hard as he could have he would have damn near killed him.

Don't know who it was, but boy, it was a beautiful hit. Having said that though, knowing the MRP, he'll probably get cited for it and get off the Cornes one. :p

It was Boak. Buried him.

Re: Milburn's bump

Over-reaction thread or what! One of two superb body contact blows from Dasher today. Thought they were rippers...but in today's soft football world, the mrp will probably dish out one or more for this. How many slow-motion shots do we need to see. Everything looks worse in slow motion- heck that's how the Port flogs played for most of the game, I had to fast forward some of the passages to make them look interested and faster. As for the booing by the croud, it was for that flog walking off the ground with a blood rule while we waited to have a shot at goal. The emergency ump even took off his gown to tell him to hurry up. The cheers were when he broke into stride. Nothing more than that, so calm down you over-anxious posters!

Re: Milburn's bump

He was booed because he was clearly wasting time. How often do you see emergency umpires run out onto the field to tell a player to hurry up and get off? Never. Cornes was time wasting and the booing was for that.

This.

Blood rule, pods having a shot. Took about 2 min to stroll 50m and the emergency umpire made in nearly to the square.

It would've been poor form if he'd been hobbling off with a broken leg, but a broken nose won't stop you from walking off at a brisk pace.

Had the trainers there who couldn've helped him off too if he was in so much pain.:thumbsd:

Re: Milburn's bump

Let us remember, it is not about what you think is a good or fair bump. The MRP has shown that it is wild and wreckless and inconsistent, and hates head high contact from bumps.

Do you guys really think it was head-head contact?

Re: Milburn's bump

Cornes hit was a tad late, though textbook shirtfront. A week out I'd think.

But not late enough for either of the 3 field or 4 boundary umpires (I think they have the power) to award a downfield free or even bring it back to Cornes. That's the thing that really gets to me is that if the hits that these guys are putting on are late and unnecessary then wht don't the umpires pay a free or report them at the time?

Common sense says he gets off, MRP says probably 2 downgraded to 1 with an early plea. Buddy hardly touched Aker and he copped a week.

Re: Milburn's bump

He'll get something. Keep the old man fresh with a few weeks off here and there I say.

Selwood didn't get a free when it was attached to Osbourne's elbow the other week

Re: Milburn's bump

At least a week, probably two, I'd say. The rules are getting ridiculous.

Re: Milburn's bump

The thing is, according to the rule, when you choose to bump you take responsibility for any contact to the head, even if it is with your own head. Despite the fact the high contact was unintended, it still happened and the player bumping owes a duty of care. Under the rule, he will go. Negligent, high contact, med/high impact = 2 weeks?

Re: Milburn's bump

Wreckless? He made a total wreck out of Cornes' nose, waddaya talking about?
Haha oops. Shocking mistake. I feel like Andrew Mackie
