However, we would take our young WA boy Coughlan back home where he belongs - but not for Daniel Kerr.

Please correct me if I am wrong but didn't West Coast and Fremantle have 2 chances each to pick up Coughlan before Richmond and missed them all?

You had you chances and you blew it! Suffer in ya jocks! :D :p

That's ok, you keep Richo and Coughlan and we will keep Judd,Kerr,Cousins,Gardiner etc - and we will all be happy!

And next year when Ottens becomes the best ruck in the league and Gardiner injures himself at a crucial time in the season (AGAIN) we will all be happy. Happy Happy Joy Joy

Like I said, the Eagles don't have anyone on their list who I would trade for Cogs

Don't think anyone's saying get Hardwick. Think Miller is after someone like Hardwick (well Hardwick 3 years ago) but moreso like Scotty Turner who makes the opposition think twice when running off half-back. Someone who can deliver a descent hip and shoulder and relishes the physical side of the game.

Apparently Stevie Lawrence is on the market and he would fit the bill here. He is a very tough half-bank flanker in the hardwick mould (watch round 11 Saints V Brisbane). Obviously wouldn't be the man you want first, but he could be a good fallback option if thats the type of player you are after. Would propably get him on relatively low $$.

I am a saints fan, and love the way lawrence is hard at the footy and dont really want to lose him, but if it has to be i would love him to go somewhere that appreciates the style of footy he can play.

Thoughts?

You are probably quite right. If we could pick him up with a 4th or 5th round draft pick, it would well be worth the punt. If it doesn't work out, then there is nothing lost.

Lawrence, is as hard as they come. Has had a few problems but you would be hard pressed to find a more committed footballer. He is apparently going to be delisted. Richmond problably could get him for nothing in the pre-season draft. Would add some much needed toughness and can kick a few goals when forward. This season against geelong in round 5 he turned the game when moved to the hff and kicked 2 or 3 in the last quarter.

I hope he gets another chance at the saints. I love him. If not though I hope the tigers pick him up. Would be a great, cheap addition

I've been a bit of a Lawrence fan for a while but are we the club to turn around his dubious off field exploits?Giving "difficult" players second chances (or third in Steve's case) can come off beautifully ala Martin Pike or end embarrassingly ala Allen Jakovitch. I'd feel more confident if we had a more experienced, "feared" coach like Matthews or Malthouse to set him straight.

Also despite his toughness Lawrence seems to have that certain "sloppiness" in his play that at the moment characterises our club - I always felt the same way about Cripps too. Hard at it types but with a lack of polish that is esposed to easily against really skillful sides. We already have a few of these types and I don't think we can afford any more.

Well I'd be more than happy if Miller pulled out the following from his bag of tricks:

FORWARD: Nathan Brown
MIDFIELD: James Bartel, Heath Black
DEFENCE: Dean Solomon, Brett Guerra

2 of the 5 if rumours are to be believed

3 to go...........:D
