Didn't he say something to Kane about why is he playing while his son is in the hospital? I don't remember him having a crack at the kid.
Anyway, that was still out of line massively, but this isn't about that now. Has nothing to do with Lucy Cornes, so why is she giving her bit? She will understandably still hold a grudge, but she shouldn't be saying anything about this new situation.

I smell a new reality tv show starring the Cornes.

How about?

I don't know about you guys, but if somebody used my sick toddler to sledge me or my partner things wouldn't suddenly be hunky-dory if they apologized. Minson is and will always be a scumbag.

Agree that it is reasonable for Lucy and Kane Cornes to feel that way. With her husbands position as a current player and her having somewhat of a profile because of it. It becomes irresponsible for her to tweet what she did about a different incident years later.

does anyone know if pearce's mum is ill or something? i dont see pearce as a guy who gets riled up pretty easily, so it must have been something pretty full on. ridiculous that people are under more pressure to let an insulting comment slide rather than making sure the moron with priors stops sprouting shit.

Lol, you don't watch many Port games, do you?

Agree with this though. It's a product of the stupid 'tough Aussie bloke' culture that you'd think would've died out by 2012.

No one ever sledged Michael Jordan.

I'm willing to bet that Isiah Thomas disagrees.

Spud>Minson

Hopefully it is just a storm in a tea cup however i'm surprised Pearce would raise it 'unless' there was more 'colourful' words potentially used. Just sayin!

Well we'll find out won't we. In the mean time we can stop hanging Minson until he's been proven to have done have done something wrong.

She shouldn't take her grievances to twitter then.

She's within her rights to just like the HUN and co are within their crappy rights to print her tweets. Maybe we should blame them for their 5-star journalism eh?

There are some horrible Bay 13 style posts in here that are no better than Minson's gaffe circa 5 yrs ago. For shame

Someone said something nasty on the footbal field?

FMD - hang him!

I thought it was something along the lines of 'I hope you play with more heart than your son'

I don't have a problem with sledging, but I think peoples families are off limits, say what ever you want about the person themselves (Besides racial comments, we all know that's a no-go zone.) but don't bring their family into it.

WTF! The HUN and co are pathetic, you won't get any argument from me there. And regarding Minson's comments from years ago about KC's son, it was a ****ing low blow and I think he's probably a real piece of shit on and off the football field, but I don't know what he has said this time. Apparently it is something about Pearce's mother?? If it's the usual kind of dumbarse football player sledge, why the hell would you go home and tell your wife about it? I mean how many players tell their wives/girlfriends/mothers what gets said about them on the field.
Kane Cornes' wife may have the right to feel offended, but venting it on twitter surely isn't the most sensible thing to do. Unless you want attention from the gutter media of course.

Not fussed with Will sledging, assuming it wasn't the sort of stuff that is just flat out not OK like racism and homophobia etc. Not convinced his comments about the Kornes' situation with their kid were out of line, or that anything along the lines of hanging it on a bloke's mum are either. Its childish and you can hound him about being a prick, because if he is doing it, he is. But that is where it should end, not AFL fines etc.

The worlds gone mad, I don't like anyone bagging mothers, someones race, their sexuality etc but c'mon the reaction is way over the top get over it ffs!

What if the person you are sledging really hates their own family, but takes personally things said about himself? What if the person you are sledging is suffering from depression due to struggling with their own sexual orientation, and he gets called a "stupid <insert derogatory word for homosexual>"? Why is that OK, and calling them a "stupid <insert derogatory word for ethnic or indigenous person>" not?

You see the folly in taking the stance you have taken? I couldn't give a hoot what some boofhead on the field called me or members of my family. I don't resort to that sort of thing or get flustered by it, and I find those that do to be strange rather than offensive.

Minson is proving himself to have plenty of academic intelligence, but very little emotional intelligence, at least in the heat of battle anyway. Disappointing that for the second year running the innability of our players to allow their football do the talking rather than their mouths has painted the club in a poor light.

I think the McGrath reaction was reasonable and should not be critisized for not taking the joke. He was joking about the batter and brian lara when the batter shot back a comment regarding his wife. It is not the batters fault because he had no idea McGrath's wife was sick but what was a comment made in jest blew out of control. If the batter said anything at all different about anything I am sure McGrath would have played nicer.

I am not in the belief players should make any comments under any context about opposition players families as circumstances like the minson case can happen even though i doubt minson intended any of his comments to be taken offense. Knowledge is everything and if you dont have it dont assume a comment even in the most light hearted nature will be taken as intended.

But the batsman's (can't be bothered spelling Ragamasthwa properly) comment had nothing to do with Jane's cancer. Absolutely nothing. So why get upset about it.... And to make it worse, the cancer was being kept quiet, so the batsman would've been totally unaware.

McGraths reaction was way over the top. Way over the top. And it exposed his mental fragility at the time as well. If he couldn't keep his emotions in check, he shouldn't have been playing. Simple as that.

However, that's off topic.

Interested as to what he said. If Minson said something like "you're as weak as your mum" or "I slept with your mum", fair game. If it was something referring to how hard he tackled Pearce/comparing that to 'how hard he tackled Pearces mum' (because it was soon after Minson tackled Pearce yes) that's worse, because depending on how it was said could be inferring rape, which is off limits in my books.

Of course, everyone has different books. Think that one would be pretty unanimous though.

Mate did you just make that up. It was on the lines of 'Shouldn't you be looking after your son'. People forget this comment came after Cornes making comment about Minsons ill/recently deceased father.

no, remember discussing it with mates at the time, ofcourse I was not on the field, so what he said is only known by the players. Disgraceful if he did.
