He is gone . You really dont understand AFL football you Demons supporters. Its a ruthless brutal sport.

As I said above Hawks lead the race. Dont expect much. Hope the Cats go easier on you and your Demon mates. ;)

As your own CEO Peter Jackson said and I quote the MFC " has a toxic culture". Best thing for Mitch is to move on to a club that the supporters respect the players.

What are you crapping on about now?

Nice attempt at trolling, I give it a 6.5 but you lose points because I don't believe that he'll be on our list next season, so really, it kind of makes your post look pretty pathetic.

Have fun though

6.5 is high. He's going to have to improve subtlety for mine.

Please don't feel that you're in a position to educate Melbourne supporters about how football works.

Their player was suffering mental health issues and Melbourne supported him. They made allowances for his illness and provided a way for his life to improve. This move was the polar opposite from "toxic culture" and a move that was respected at the time by all in the football world.

This is the drafts and trading thread, not Bay 13 or a team board. If people want to use this board to troll other clubs about mental health or any other low life issue than they're welcome to try. You will turn a lovely shade of red, almost shiraz in colour, if you continue.

I hope that I have helped you to understand AFL footy.

Would be good fit for the dogs if you didn't have to give up much for him, put him on a performance based contract, if he is fully fit both physically and mentally then he would be a great pickup.

Think you clearly missed what many, many, many MFC fans have said today ... about Mitch ... IF any any any teams fans have showen a total lack of respect towards a person suffering mental health issues and player still on their list maybe you need to think again.

However, your comments regarding the MFC football club I totally agree with you. So sorry you got it wrong I was not making a comment on mental health issues, sorry I have no knowledge on that subject.

Think you need to read what I wrote again ... he is gone. Hawks lead race. Why? Do Hawks lead the race?

Also dont put words in my mouth - CEO of MFC called the culture "toxic"

I talk to Melbourne supporters daily. I didn't put words in your mouth, I used the same quotation marks and words that you did, I referenced your source. I don't think that Peter Jackson was referring to Mitch Clark when he made them, and this is a thread about Mitch Clark.

Anyway, back on topic, we can chat via PM if you like.

Cheers ... I talk to many AFL player managers. I will say again I think the Melbourne football club has handle the situation very well. However, I do not say the same thing about their fans.

I don't blame thier fans for being disgruntled.
Their best player walks out on them after 15 games - under questionable circumstances - gets a pay out, comes back a short time later and wants to play elsewhere. This is after their club has put close to 6 months worth of rehabilitation in trying to get Clark back on the park.
Melbourne fans should be absolutely ropable, I think it is good to see Schwartz vocal that Clark has blindsided Melbourne.
After 6-7 years of pain, I'd hardly blame Demons supporters even if I thought they were going overboard.

As our own CEO - who has just signed a contract extension - said, and I quote:

". . . but it's not like that this year. It's a much turned-around club. Right across the whole football club the culture is better, the psychological environment is a hell of a lot better."

Paul Roos has been there for 22 games - Roos and Peter Jackson are very positive people and are doing an outstanding job. No doubt most elements of the MFC are heading in the right direction. There is not a player in the land that does not give a 100% for their club.

According to the mail Mitch Clark loves many elements of the MFC - Roosy, the MFC staff and his team mates. Yet there is still a disconnect! He is "get-able"

I don't think anyone is arguing that he isn't 'get-able', I think Melbourne fans would be dirty if he blindsided the club and went off to join another Victorian club. If he was to go back to Perth to play then I wouldn't have any issues with his decision.

Sad state of affairs at a football club. When none of the fans are arguing Mitch Clark of all players is not "get-able". Playing groups are tight knit groups - all the mail is MFC is no different. Think its general accepted one of the major turning points for getting Roos was when he spoke with the player group.

Fans rarely know the machinations of a AFL football club. Yet they are sometimes very quick to have their say. Respect is a two way street. The kids have choices these days - deal with it. The kids are not stupid.

Roos is one of the best player welfare coaches in the league. If anybody can patch up the disconnect I'm sure he can.

Think it is safe to say, he won't be coming to the Hawks. We are basically linked to EVERYONE... Frawley, Carlisle, the GWS boys and now Clark. I don't think out of all the well thought out trades, there is not one that I can remember that was brought up early within the season. Gunston, Burgoyne, Lake, Hale, Gibson... no one knew we wanted them until trade week or a few days prior.

I personally wouldn't mind getting in Clark, as it will make Roughy and Clark the main forward targets and completely free up Gunner to run riot.... and with Hale getting on in the years... we may be able to avoid a rebuild and can compete with the GC's and GWS'.

Mind you, what happen with Dayle Garlett does scare me a little... but Mitch Clark has been a part of footy before, so he knows the rigours of the game. Might turn out to be a Stewie Dew again... albeit hopefully in better shape.

But yeah to conclude... it won't happen. Dogs should be the one bidding highly for him.

Probably not but what about Mitch Clark for Liam Shiels?
Eh, No. Shiels will be box seat for our next captain if Hodge keeps the mantle beyond this year (Which is likely). I would like Clark at the Hawks but he is not worth NEAR Liam Shiels. Apparently we are into him according to the media, which most likely means -
a. We are actually into him and should get him (ala Lake / Gibson / Gunston / Burgoyne)
b. We are not into him at all and this is all a smokescreen while we are chasing someone else
I wish I knew

Slightly disagree - Lake / Gunston were definitely mentioned before trade week, Gunner not long before but towards the end of the season. What we tend to do well is get in peoples ears very early and hold it tight but it does sometimes come out. I wonder if we have been in his ear about a return for the best part of the year??
And Stewie was in awesome shape, when it mattered, and besides, if you ask me, round is a great shape

Sorry, so let me get this right? its fine for you to say that he is 'get-able' but when a Melbourne supporter concedes that he is 'get-able' we are wrong?

if all the rumours are correct about him wanting a fresh start then it would make sense that he may go elsewhere. I would love Mitch to stay at the club and I would back Roos and co to be able to nurture him as much as they needed to help with him mental health, but if he doesn't want to play with our club (as pissed off about it as I would be) then I don't want him there.

Dayle Garlett was a totally different circumstance.

Clark is a very good footballer and if he wanted to come to Hawthorn, we'd certainly take him. But I can't see us competing with other clubs for salary. We have the best forward line in the comp with 3 blokes kicking over 50 goals and have solid ruck depth already with Hale (albeit nearing retirement), Ceglar and McEvoy.

I'd expect Hawthorn to chase young midfielders or key defenders. And i'd expect a few other clubs who need forwards to offer a lot more for Clark.

My money is on Collingwood or Carlton. Would be a great fit.

True to some extent but Hale will be close to retirement and was shaky for much of the season. McEvoy does not seem that forward / Ruck option and While Ceglar does he is not the caliber of Mitch Clark. We will need mids and defenders but when a player like this is possibly in reach, you go for it if he fits your bill. It won't cost us very much at all I would think.

Whoever gets him, if he puts it all together, you're basically getting the best athlete in the league for his height.

He could play half a game on the wing easily.
