hahahahahahahaha

It's sad you find your lack of common sense so amusing.

Just give it some thought yourself.

Who would be paid more.
A 23 year old coming off a career best year, signing a 4 deal or
A 28 year old coming off 2 years of no football due to injury, with diagnosed depression. Clark's contract was also said to be "heavily incentive based" and he played 10 games. The deal was a 2 year contract.

I've no issue with your thought process.

I have issue with it being used as evidence to back up the previous claim that was stated as fact.

There's nothing factual about this evidence. It's as tenuous as it gets.

he's 19 and struggled with some injuries though.

he's 19, played 21 games, kicked 14 goals, shown blistering pace, not afraid to take the game on. i've liked what i've seen so far tbh
So do I and I expect he's much better in the midfield where the burst pace is more dangerous than forward where he runs in to trouble. If he avoids injury and gets fit I could see him being Geelong's 3rd best midfielder pretty quickly. I'd say burst pace as well because he often breaks a tackle with some powerful first steps and then gets run down. Think he should've been drafted higher not lower based on output so far. Although Lever and Wright are exceptional talents as well.

As for Mitch Clark...

Who really knows. I don't blame him for leaving Melbourne. I think he needed a fresh start. I don't blame him for coming to Melbourne, the money made sense and his girlfriend was keen to be in Melbourne (or Perth) but not in Brisbane. He left Brisbane to provide for his daughter which meant either cash (at the Dees) or family support in WA. Brisbane couldn't/wouldn't offer him either and in the end they were prudent. I don't blame Mitch for having depression or for anything petty like his social media or photography. It's his life.

Now there's certainly been a heap of smoke in regards to other issues Clark has had with team mates, off field problems, relationships and so on. And when there's that much smoke there's probably some fire. But if he's an ordinary bloke I don't really see the benefit of having a go at him without the facts. I wish him all the best in his life outside the AFL.

It seems strange to me that Fev has always been a popular character that everyone wants to do well and turn it around yet Clark doesn't get the same benefit of the doubt from a lot of fans.

Fair point. Obviously we can't know the facts because AFL contracts aren't made public.

It's just clear when you give it some thought, Varcoe would have been on more at Geelong than Clark.

I'd love it if Clark was on the big contract that some people think he was. He won't be on anything in 2017, and it would give us more cap space to chase a free agent.

Garbage, he never produced one season with us better than his first year with the Pies

He was great in 2010 and 2011 when still only 22 or 23 and arguably not yet at the top of his game. Injured 2012 and 2013 until finally fit later in the year and spent 2014 regaining his form I dont subscribe to the theory that suddenly changing clubs improved his form in 2015. Its highly likely the same would have happened if he had stayed at Geelong because he was already a proven player before 2012.

What IS a fact is this three way trade was a massive win to Collingwood and a massive bust to Melbourne and Geelong.

I watched his whole career with us and respectfully disagree with you. But each to their own.

No doubt Collingwood easily won the trade.

Fair enough but I think you underestimate varcoes lost two years at an age where he would have been expected to have a breakout season.

Perhaps, and probably mark him harshly because he never became the player we expected him to become - whereas the Pies didn't have the same expectations.

He should never have been put into a position of playing AFL at the highest level when he was still obviously having issues.

The reality is that Geelong failed him, they got greedy and thought they could pick up an elite forward on the cheap.

As for the comment about Melbourne's position contributing to his mental health issues, what a disgusting thing to post, but thank you for letting the bf community know the type of person you are.

Jog on campaigner

Wake up to yourself. If you can't accept that the environment you are in can contribute to your state of mind, you're blind.

It's not Melbourne's fault, clearly, but being in the atmosphere of constant onfield disappointment can't have a positive impact surely.

You can be in the best environment in the world and still be depressed, that is not in dispute. But the most base level of common sense must also tell you that being in a club where failure is a constant would make it even harder.
