Take the Geelong goggles off. Duncan is free to run without a tag because he plays alongside Danger and Selwood, while Neale basically carries the Freo side on his shoulders along with Fyfe.

Neale is 2 years younger, and averages more disposals, goals, tackles and clearances per game, while the two are similar in most other important stats. They are comparable, but no way is Duncan better or worth more than Neale. Only advantage for Duncan is his rebounding ability

No team in the history of the world is tagging Neale ahead of Fyfe and teams don't tag to so get off the grass about free to run as opposed to Neale. Those stats are meaningless because Duncan doesn't play in the middle and would contest half as many stoppages. He has proven the ability to do both and would play that role if we needed him to. So as I said does everything Neale does as well but is more damaging with ball in hand!

No just made a really stupid comment and you brilliantly avoided all my arguments whilst trying to belittle me with "champ"

I guess that makes it obvious that my points are correct

I'd say that is exactly what you did with the "stupid" comment so you hardly deserved a considered response. More than a few have said that a drop off in Kelly's form next year is possible and that his upside may be minimal but it you want to fall to insults as your comeback then that's your issue champ.

So any other Geelong supporters want to have a crack at me for saying that you just might be over valuing your players?

That was taken out of context the deal for the geelong freo side was

Kelly for Cerra

Duncan & pick 11

For 4 and 22

But originally I said the second pick was for father son so I 3rd rounder could do it

Which effectively just turns into a pick swap freo still has Brisbane pick in the top five and adds 11.

Still all hypothetical like this thread nothing in hear Is serious considering mitch Duncan isnt leaving

I said in the post it wouldn't happen but if you want to speculate trades with all contracted players everyone wants to keep that's what you would ask for.

Cerra and Tim Kelly cancel each other out then you have Duncan and an 11 pick upgrade.

I agree probably a bad trade but you traded lachie Weller for pick 2 lol. You want lightning in a bottle every day cerra is a 2nd year player. You have no idea how he will turn out. The trade could be an absolute bust for geelong. Max king is dicey

But I suppose it depends what you think mitch duncans value is in a forced trade if it's over pick 15 what's the point of the deal.

Kelly was valued at a pick 10-15.

The stupidest thing Freo could do is trade Cerra now, even though he is building very well, he has lost some value during his rookie season. Why would they want to trade him now, as a sweetener???

Here it comes... the ancient big foooty law for opposition players I want to denegrate when I have no proof to of :

If there are other good players in your team, it means that you are “instantly less good because you wouldn’t be able to handle more attention given to you if someone did give you more attention” argument.

It always rolls around and continues to make no sense or logic

A very good rookie, just like Tim Kelly is just a mature age pickup. Exactly why west coast is deep into him lol..... wouldn't he be pretty handy in a premiership window with gaffy heading off.

Is there miles between them in output though as far as I can see. It's all potential about cerra most likely years off being a really influential player just did some special looking things. What do you offer up for a sam mcgluggage type. He still worth pick 3 now. Is andrew McGrath at essendon worth pick one.

The whole thing with the draft is it's new shiny and unknown once you have been drafted that's it.

If it was just a cerra to geelong scenario which it clearly isnt and won't be.

If both wanted trades to victoria and Perth would Kelly for cerra be a horrible trade for freo or geelong.

I cant answer that now very dependant on which supporter you ask. If I ask a geelong supporter you prob need to throw in a first rounder. If I ask a freo supporter Kelly is worth pick 35 and cerra is gods gift to rookies.

Cerra didn't pick up 1 vote in NAB rising star voting. Tim Kelly blitzed the best first year player by 170 odd votes.

Its in the eyes of the beholder.

It's just how good is the question mark. How good is Tim Kelly and how good will cerras progression be. Really hard to judge

Well Freo could've picked Kelly at 5 and Geelong could not have picked Cerra at 24. That should tell you something.

You should go and ask Brisbane or Essendon if they would trade Kelly for Hugh McCluggage or Andrew McGrath. You'll get a no from both.

Anyway there's a whole thread for inflating Kelly's value. This thread is for inflating Duncan's.

Really? I don't think Cerra has lost any value during his rookie season. If anything he's worth a top 3 pick now.

Kelly pick 10
Duncan pick 15

Neale and Duncan are fairly different players, one is inside and the other outside. Neale being 2 years younger and a very good inside mid has a fair bit more value.

Freo dont need Duncan, he is too old for their list.

Duncan has value to teams who are contending like, WC, GWS, Melbourne, Richmond and the Pies. Dont really see any of them being able to make a trade.

Cerra also has way more value than Kelly. 18yo vs 24yo

23 touches and a goal a game speaks for itself. As well as the crunch performances in last quarters and goals at vital moments Geelong supporters don;t have any need to inflate Kelly. He has been awesome not for a first year player but just as a player in his own right

Yeah no one cares. Freo aren't trading Cerra for Kelly and no club would pick Kelly over Cerra in the draft if given the choice.

Seemingly West Coast really do care as they are reported to have offered Kelly 1.5 over 3 years! Luckily you have nothing to do with your club as they are obviously better off without your input

Yeah my bad, I actually meant to go the other way. Hence why i listed them in order.
Fair enough. Duncan still has a lot of currency, I just think Neale is worth a very early first (around 3 or 4 at least) while Duncan is closer to Pick 8 to 10 range. Both guns

That's 500k a year. That's not too much above minimum wage in the AFL. Maybe not worth two firsts afterall.

Average wage is about $350k now. Minimum still about $100-150k.

But yeah $500k p.a. would be about our 10th highest paid player I'd have thought. Each club has at least a handful of first/second year draftees on minimum wage.

I blame that more on Matthew Knights and Chris Scott than personnel.
He's the fifth best midfielder in a team that barely made the eight. Geeze Geelong players get overrated.

Hahaha that is such a ridiculous way to measure someone's ability. I am so glad you have nothing to do with judging talent for geelong. Here is a novel idea why don't you judge him by his individual performance (23 and a goal a game) elite numbers. Rather than the subjective position he takes up in the midfield of a team that finished 8th. What if say he played in a team that had a fantastic midfield but no real functioning forward line ( oh wait that is us). Furthermore Chris Scott said he was our best mid in the second half of the year. He also has a proven ability to perform when it counts late in games. Geez some people make some strange arguments
