Hey there Lach,

Are you suggesting that McDonald is a Full Back option??? People may hate Grover but he held down FB when Tarrant was sucking up forward.

Like for like is what I am saying, if you want to replace Grover we need a player with strength and height. Grover had great strength and made up for the lack of height with guts.

McDonald could NEVER be an option to put on a Fevola. Could he.
As a result he is playing for a flanking position alongside Broughton, Duffield, Hayden and perhaps Suban.

More KP players down the spine thanks, ours is rather short.:(

Those players you mention above ... look at the team I posted a few posts above ... Macdonald is not competing with them, just slots in alongside them and you put Suban in the midfield. I understand we need KP defenders, but unfortunately where are they going to magically come from? We have picks 36, 48, 49 to work a miracle.

Excluding someone who would be in our best 22 just because he is another "mid-sized defender" doesn't really make sense to me if you consider the alternatives (assuming Ball and Thorp are headed elsewhere). A decent player is a decent player, no matter where they play. If Macdonald is the best available in the PSD, then we should select him.

Totally missing the original point gentlemen. I was saying that Thorp should be our priority. KP Forward is our greatest deficiency. A KP backman is also needed but there is not a talented one fitting our age requirements entering the (Silvagni-not there yet) PSD.

Thorp should be our priority over McDonald. Freo need a big talented goalkicker to help out the magnificent Pav. If he is not going to come to Freo then is McDonald even interested in coming to Freo? I have heard nothing indicating that so far. Please dont let Freo pick up some hack or has been when there are players like Ball, Thorp and even McDonald who at least fit into the team plans.

Is there anything in the way of KP forwards that fit our needs appart from Thorp? Bradshaw would be great but 5 years too late. Any other thoughts gentlemen?

Good Lord KPR you make me laugh.LOL Port are going to really enjoy having his services in the next few years. Pure Champion.LOL.:D:thumbsu:

haha, yeah, the chumps, why would you take him? he is useless, and then on top of that taking jay nash as well.... im mean.... wow..... it seems as though they are trying to take over our position as the charity club which offers useless players a last home before delisting... :o they can have that mantle....

Mitch Thorp: Injury prone headcase or talented young KP goalkicker?
Hawthorn have had their say on that and our recruiters would also have their opinion on whether Thorp is a priority or not.
Even if we were interested it depends on Thorp's preference to move to WA or stay in Melb.
McDonald would be preferable to any of Riggio et al as a PSD pick - I don't see the harm in adding an experienced running defender when we would be getting him for free.

Nope, but Grover should have been only the third tall,
If Pav goes back to chf this year then McPharlin goes to CHB, Tarrant to full back and Grover possibly left right out. He's getting too slow now

Like you, I think that this is our best option. The problem is (as we are all aware) that when injury or bad form strikes our 'Plan B' options are ordinary to say the least. McPharlin must go back, it is where he plays his best football. Tarrant at FB was the best part about last season for me. I seriously thought that he should have gone close to AA FB. He was outstanding.

The problem is what comes after those 2. I am seriously hoping that Johnson really lifts his game next year, he is our next best option. Mundy after that but he is not really a defender more a running backman/midfielder.

There are some good elements to the spine, providing that they stay fit. It also still leaves a gaping hole forward where Keplar is our best option at FF/CHF when the Pav is not there. Murphy is lucky to still be on the list and Sibosado is a rookie (although I have VERY high hopes for him).
Every other player moved into that spot is robbing Peter to pay Paul.:(
