Re: Mooney on SEN now

Oh greeeeat.

I personally think he should join The Footy Show. Would kill to see his reaction when Sam shoves his face into a cake :D

What a **** sucking show. I reckon i've seen it 20 time since 98. (it was awesome before that)
No one gets to have an impact on that show other than Sam.
It would be huge waste of talent.

Re: Mooney on SEN now

Just tried it on safari and Firefox and no problem.

Maybe download IE (internet explorer) and try it.

Some stuff gets blocked over time etc. so just try it.
If it works uninstall FF and reinstall for future stuff.

I sort of like it. I reckon it's pretty funny.

I want Moons to go on to show Fossil who's boss.

Re: Mooney on SEN now

The biggest disappointment in the interview was when he said that there next baby was going to be a girl :(

What's so upsetting about that? He already has a son named Jagger *cringe*.

Little blonde kid, next Wayne Carey. Bookmark it.

Re: Mooney on SEN now

Funniest part for me was hearing how Moons was being encouraged to leave North for Geelong because they wanted Colbert.. because, at the time, I'm pretty sure Captain Leigh was quoted as saying that he "wanted to play in a premiership team".. bahahaha.. Sorry Colby, loved you at Geelong, even though you didn't play a game in '99 as skipper, and spewed when you were denied that (clear) mark in the final against the Crows at Footy Park in '97, but.. karma is a bitch. Suck it up Colbs.

Re: Mooney on SEN now

Colbert had retired by the time geelong won the flag in '07.

No sh1t Sherlock.. I just thought it was amusing that he'd left us (after we bestowed the honour of skipper on him) to chase a premiership at North, only to be ultimately disappointed. He'd have also been disappointed if he'd stayed with us, of this I am implicitly aware.

Oh yeah, and possibly because one of my ex's was a North fan and is part of the reason I hate them with a passion. And dumped me on the train on the way home from the 2000 Roos v Cats game at Colonial. After they'd just thumped us.

Just sayin'.

Re: Mooney on SEN now

by god! Colbert was turning into one hell of a football player.

He was as tough as they come as well and you would never think it considering how skinny he was through the arms and the legs. He was deceptively strong though and when a game got physical and undisciplined throughout periods in the mid 1990's, he was always one of those players that seemed to thrive on it along with Oysters Kilpatrick, Buddha, Brad Sholl, Ablett and Bazza.

Such a shame he did that knee in 98 or 99?
He would have been going on 24 years of age that season and as I remember..he was amongst a few who were really having strong pre-seasons, he was just starting to consolidate that center half forward position too as Stoneham was deteriorating rapidly and having a fit Colbert in his prime would have really made a difference.

Re: Mooney on SEN now

remember he backed back into an oncoming pack like he always did (similar to Lonergan) and was hospitalized, not sure what he lost but it was something...comes back only weeks later and his 1st involvement in the play for North Melbourne was again back tracking into an oncoming player without any awareness for his own safety

I remember watching it and cringing, any knock to that injury would have bloody killed but sorta highlighted what he was as a player I reckon.

Archer & Colbert ...two absolute beauties.

Re: Mooney on SEN now

It was a bruised/lacerated pancreas. At the time there was speculation he would need it to be removed, thus making him a diabetic but fortunately for him that didn't eventuate. Still had a few ops on it though from what I can remember.

Re: Mooney on SEN now

Mooney was emphatic about saying there was no way we would have won 09 if we had got 08. Wonder what he would estimate our chances this year of BTB, given the incredible drive and hunger and desperation and commitment that were the vital ingredients for both 09 and 2011.Talent is way down the list when it comes to the crunch times. Replacing guys like Max, Milburn, Lingy who would virtually have died for the team is a challenge. Selwood, Bartel, Kelly and Bundy look to be the role models now.

Not everything he says is gospel, but got to admire his frankness and lack of deception.

Also good the way he described Harley as the best possible captain we could have had for that era, great man, communicator and role model. Great at getting the TEAM to be disciplined and cohesive, which had been lacking.

Re: Mooney on SEN now

Brilliant, honest interview. So nice to hear a player who doesnt answer every question with "yeah definitely" and actually has something interesting to say. Will be missed the Moondog.

unfortunately, colbert's public reason for leaving was very different to the actual reasons he left. a complete lack of respect from senior players was most of it, from memory

Re: Mooney on SEN now

I just listened to that again.

There has been a few people on here that have said Geelongs history of losing flags in the 90's has no impact on current day players.
Wrong !

Interesting that Matty Scarlett said that it had no effect on him - and that it wasn't a factor for the playing group because none of them were apart of those sides.

Of the following reasons -

a) 1st AFL grand final ever for all of the players (bar Moons)
b) Un-backable favourites in the biggest match of their career
c) The club losing a few GFs in the 90s

100% certain that line item c would be the least influential.
