Society/Culture Morrison Makes It Official, Whatever The Cost, We Will Not Surrender To China's Threats

Yes it is. But no less laughable than Morrison taking a moral stand.

Scott Morrison is an ordinary human being, yes. The Man Who Wasn't There.

You oiund like a Murdoch media worshipper. Do you write for the HS?
Morrison is being treated by our ally countries as a hero right now. If the world can turn on China and create positive change this is a good outcome.

Hey mate, you asked me not to converse with you about China and I have respected that. Happy to discuss China with anyone.

sorry - missed you name (strolled to quick on my phone)

And sorry to read that your wife and family had been spat on.

my missus only got s**t at work (friends copped the worse s**t)

Is that all you think he has been saying about China?

Moral granstanding by Morrison is what got us here.

What else has he been saying about China? You mean asking for a inquiry into COVID?

they are not labour camps

they may be called vocational camps, but industry is not what they are about

they are a reinvention of the re-education camp, and the intention is to suppress support for islam and great loyality for "china"

its why the west didnt (and lets be blunt, still doesnt) give a sh*t about them - its only muslims

Typical China, really.

Their schtick has always been to say that you can engage in whatever behaviour you like, as long as they 1) approve and 2) get to call it Han/Chinese.

If either of those conditions is not met, they jail or kill you.

what happened?

coworkers wanted her made to WFH (before lockdown 1) because they reckoned she was a covid risk (hadnt been back to china in a year)

stupid bogans actually said this while she was in the room too

Is he? Show me a significant world leader publicly supporting Morrison over this recent spat with China. Please don't say Ardern.

The SMH are hyping up how 200 MP's in 19 countries are telling their constituents to drink Australian wine, although I somehow doubt that this helps us or hurts China very much.

The only way you really hurt China is if the West as a bloc moves against them. The problem is that China has its claws in much of the West via the Belt and Road Initiative, and the West itself is divided due to other issues (Brexit for starters).

Morrison is quivering right now. According to our allies. Nasty little piece from our No.1 ally in the New York Times:

"But even as he (Scomo) elevated a Twitter post to a four-alarm diplomatic fire, he also called for a reset with Beijing, reiterating that Australia’s end game was still “the happy coexistence of two partners.” In that somersault, Mr. Morrison inadvertently let the world hear Australia’s internal dialogue of doubt — one that echoes around the globe as China increasingly asserts its might. "

Huh? How can we have a happy coexistance with China, that monster of a country?

We are going to be saved from China by Ardern and a gaggle of drunk low level poiticians around the world. Leaders that count are turning their backs on us as China turns the screws on us. And dumb campaigner Australians dribble with glee as the Murdoch dominated media tells us we are winning. Good grief we are dumb.

Even Slovakia are on board, read the news.

It is a good article. China are 100% in control of this - they do not need us for anything. including coal and including iron ore.

From the article;

Whether Mr. Morrison gets any aid from the United States or elsewhere, Mr. White added, the episode has already made Australia and Mr. Morrison “look rattled and weak.”

That makes China look more powerful and intimidating.

“The folks in Beijing do not want us to like them,” Mr. White said. “They want us to understand their power and their willingness to use it. Our problem is that we are being rather slow to realize that their power is real.”

Oh I'm assuming she is Chinese?

Yeah that's pretty stupid and she obviously works with idiots.

3 per cent groth this quarter. All in a trade war.
Suck it up cretins.

Keep your head down and balance the relationships.

Australia is doing more than enough to piss China off simply with our foreign investment laws, refusal to use Huawei, various defence investments and treaties, etc.

We do not need Morrison asking for "weapons style inspectors" (without any foreign consensus except Trump - who is now gone) and we do not need Abetz demanding Chinese Australians denounce the CCP in Australian parliament.

The CCP are going nowhere. And Australia is one of the biggest economic beneficiaries of China's rise.

We need to find a way to live with them. We do not have to agree with everything they do and they are certainly not going to agree with everything we do.

But we do not need to engage in the bullshit populist dog whistling and megaphone diplomacy that Trump has made popular.

Can you link the 'bullshit populist dog whistling and megaphone diplomacy'? Or are you confusing that with a request for an apology (and rightly so)? Or requesting an independent investigation into the virus for intent and purpose of avoiding future viral outbreaks?

Or is that Morrison requesting two way dialogue to repair the strained relationship? Is that the dog whistling and megaphone diplomacy that you're alluding to?

By finding a way to live with them, do you mean that we should just bend over and ask them to insert pineapple here?

Clearly need to be selective on what to push back on and what to ignore.

Getting involved in Hong Kong was stupendously stupid. Most internal matters should be overlooked (of which HK is an internal issue).

Getting involved in a military pact with India (deadly border skirmish this year; historic conflicts), Japan (historic enemy and hated) and the USA (competing world power) is a highly questionable decision. India is a nuclear power so can defend its interests, and the USA (nuclear power) has Japan's back.

Calling for an independent investigation into the origins of COVID-1984 is/was fair game but handled clumsily. Internal issues on foreign investment and foreign interference are none of the CCP's business so they can GAGF. I have no issues banning Huawai as it is a national security issue (disclaimer: I have worked in telco companies for over a decade).

This is a wake up call. China cannot be relied upon as our largest export destination.

That's about as balanced as you could expect on this board, well said.

Well,
we should have diversified years ago, and we had to chose our sovereignty and we chose our sovereignty, you and others on here hate that, it tares you apart you hate, hate our sovereignty. You hate what Scomo did. It irks people like you.

Anyways, we aren't doing nearly as bad as predicted and in the long run will better off.

We also have the moral high ground which you also hate.

You'd love us to bend over. You're a fraud.

You didn't answer the posters questions or rebuttal either - standard practice.

Ok, I'm going to say it, you don't have any convictions in your beliefs just a woke ******! It has to be said - NTTIAWWT!
